A traditional hip replacement and mini-incision hip replacement have few common things and can be decided by the orthopedic surgeon only depending on the patient's condition.
In the case of traditional hip replacement, the damaged femoral head is removed and replaced with a metal stem placed into the femur's hollow center, then a metal or ceramic ball is placed on the upper part of the stem. This ball replaces the damaged femoral head that was removed.
But in recent years, mini-incisions (less than 10cm in length) are chosen to replace the joint.
