Myth: Mental illnesses aren’t real illnesses.

Fact: Mental illnesses are not the regular ups and downs of life. Mental illnesses create distress, don’t go away on their own, and are real health problems with effective treatments. When someone breaks their arm, we wouldn’t expect them to just “get over it.” Nor would we blame them if they needed a cast, sling, or other help in their daily life while they recovered.

ખોટી માન્યતા: જે લોકો આત્મહત્યા કરે છે એ લોકો ખરેખર મરતા પહેલા મદદ માંગતા હોતા નથી.
હકીકત: આત્મહત્યા કરતા પહેલા ૧૦૦ માંથી ૮૦ લોકો પોતાના અંગત લોકોને કોઈને કોઈ રીતે તેઓ આ અંતિમ પગલું ભરવાનાં છે અેવો સંકેત આપેજ છે.

Myth: People with mental health needs, even those who are managing their mental illness, cannot tolerate the stress of holding down a job.
Fact: People with mental health problems are just as productive as other employees.

ખોટી માન્યતા: માનસિક રોગથી પીડાતા દર્દીઓ પોતાના માનસિક રોગને કારણે પોતાના કામનો બોજો સહન કરી શકતા નથી એમના જેટલું પરીણામ પણ આપી શકતા નથી.
હકીકત: માનસિક રોગથી પીડાતા દર્દીઓ સામાન્ય કર્મચારી જેટલો બોજો સહન કરી શકે છે અને એમના જેટલું પરીણામ પણ આપી શકે છે.

Myth: People with mental health problems are violent and unpredictable.
Fact: The vast majority of people with mental health problems are no more likely to be violent than anyone else.
ખોટી માન્યતા: માનસિક બીમાર વ્યક્તિ હંમેશા તોફાની હોય છે.
હકીકત: મોટા ભાગનાં માનસિક બીમાર બીજા અન્ય વ્યક્તિઓ કરતા વધુ હિંસક હોતા નથી. આનાથી વિપરીત ઘણા માનસિક બીમાર અન્ય વ્યક્તિઓ કરતા વધુ શાંત રહેતા હોય છે.

Fact: Even very young children may show early warning signs of mental health concerns.
ખોટી માન્યતા: બાળકોને માનસિક તકલીફ થતી નથી.
વાસ્તવિકતા: ઘણા નાના બાળકોમાં માનસિક રોગનાં લક્ષણોનો આરંભ થતો જોવા મળે છે.
