While being treated for clinical depression a decade ago, it was very important to be able to see the sunshine behind the dark clouds. Some unconditional love, some positivity, some place where, your mere existence was a reason enough to celebrate; irrespective of your titles, your failures, your victories. Just YOU - a reason!.
And was the blessing I was bestowed with. .
A 'U-turn' which pulled me back from the dungeons.

An active lifestyle is addictive.
The task is...to get into that mode.
So as a guide, at times the most important role is to getting a student into a disciplined regular, self motivated mode, which could be, starting from nudging them gently, to the other end of the spectrum of bullying them into getting their asses into that mode.
This student had discontinued the classes earlier and rejoined months later, this time with way more appreciation.

And I feel these words everytime when I'm on my mat. The day when ur carrying doubts in your mind (may it be with anything in the world), the day you're feeling confident, the day you're skeptical about not overdoing things, the day you might be near equanimity, the day you're filled with love, the day you're scared, the dy you've starved, the day you've lomaded yourself with unhealthy food.... And on and on and on....
Whatever your physical or mental state be....is always reflected in your asana practice.

Life is a series of thousands of tiny little miracles.
Notice them.
Most of us are never really present in the moment because we are constantly making plans about the future, thinking about the past, being anxious about what's to come or feeling guilt and shame of what has been. Our society is built up in a way that constantly makes our focus shift from present to past & future. So is it even possible to be present in the moment while going through our daily lives? There are constantly decisions to be made, plans to figure out, meetings to go to... But if we bring awareness to everything we do, we can still be present even in the midst of everything. We do not become present by constantly thinking "I need to be present", but by shifting the perspective from being the thinker to being the watcher of the thoughts. The moment you notice that you are not present, you are.

My first 25k, and how!
Effort level for this run was al the while oscillating between OMG and WTF!
ALL I KNEW WAS COME WHAT MAY, ILL FINISH STRONG!!!
Forever grateful to the entire team of summit for the fantastic organization, the volunteers who cheered from the start to the finish 🎉, the talks with random stranger fellow runners🏃, friends who pulled me through the most crucial middle phase🦸, friend who had promised to get my 25 done under 4 and accompanied me throughout👼, friends who came back to pull me through for the last strech of 1and a half km💃 (thinking I would give up😷) and being recieved by my running guide at the finish line🦹
Back to running after a gap of 4 years!
Surely wasn't easy but was every second worth it.

Love for basics!

Plank pose (Phalakasana) is one of the basic postures to practice when it comes to building up core.
This asana is a comprehensive strengthening posture engaging our shoulder muscles, abdominal core muscles, quads, trapezius, rhomboids, triceps, lats, glutes and hamstrings.
When performed properly,
- by tightening the core it reduces / prevents back issues,
- improves posture there by enhancing your personality,
- increases metabolism, thus helping lose fat, and enhancing bone and joint health; -improves balance,
- increases length and there by flexibility of the posterior side of the body.
Precautions - proceed with caution for people with high blood pressure, anxiety disorders, carpal tunnel syndrome and those who are recovering from any injuries.

ME AND THE LOVE OF FOOD!
There was a study conducted, where the population was divided in 2 groups- One who ate 🥧 'GUILT-FREE' (definitely not my types) and the other set, who 'CELEBRATED - the mere act of eating it - ☺️totally my kinda gang).
THE group who ate with guilt were less successful at losing weight.
Do we really need to use, what we eat; as a tool to judge and label ourselves?
Food is the fuel to our body.
Instead of labelling what we eat as unhealthy- guilt free and so on, HOW ABOUT JUST BEING MORE MINDFUL about what we are eating -when -in what combination and sequence and how you feel after eating what you eat?
How about labelling them as 'TREAT-MEALS' and use them as a motivation to cultivate a more healthy -a more Mindful lifestyle?!

Don't practice yoga to get better at yoga.
PRACTICE YOG TO GET BETTER AT LIVING.
Hindolasana -Cradle baby pose.
It's a prepartory lose for padmasana (lotus pose) and kapotasana (pigeon pose).
A beginner's hip opening posture which helps strech the hamstrings, pelvic floor muscles, groins and gluteus maximus muscles.
In the picture is a variation for deeper streching as the other leg is streched out like in a staff pose.
On the spiritual side this asana is practiced to work on the swadhishthan chakra (sacral chakra).

So till a fortnight ago; this was only an asana for me -Tri Pada Adho Mukh Svanasana simply put a 3 legged dog , which I practiced for strengthening and stability.
The perspective changed or rather deepened when I visited an animal shelter for animals established and managed by , where I had an up-close interaction with a couple of dogs who are up for adoption.
Being a dog lover and wanting to adopt one since long, the fact - I won't be able to justify the time and care required to raise one all by myself; this was a great solace where I can now go and socialise with the animals ,not only dogs but- buffaloes, cows, cats, bunnies, turtles and the list goes on; all of whom were either abandoned or injured and abandoned.
It was during this visit where I developed a special affection for one dog in particular -LANGDI. And I guess the feeling was mutual because she didn't leave me for even a jiffy and dodged me lovingly to keep petting her. (I don't know who was petting whom here.) 'LANGDI' literally means, someone who limps. She had an injured leg and was brought to the shelter during a complicated delivery where she unfortunately had lost all her puppies. No wonder we connected so well.
Thank you Darshanbhai and Sanchita for taking the time out and giving such a detailed insight into the history nd functioning of the rehab centre and the medical facility.
It was very surprising when The founder Darshanbhai explained that dogs can be very resilient and often a 3 legged dog or cat soon forgets the missing limb altogether, and can live a long, happy and healthy life with minimal adjustments to their lifestyle or the owners too. (CONTRARY TO US HUMANS-THE SELF PROCLAIMED EVOLVED SPECIES, who struggle to adapt to even a single missing toe/finger, leave alone an entire limb.

The true purpose of asana practice is to calm the body enough to sit for Pranayama which in turn prepares the brain to sit in meditation.
Meditation is where we see the personality enhancements and calmness that we seek in yog.

Happy 6th International Yoga Day!
Every body is a yoga body.

There ain't anything that disqualifies a person from doing yoga. Yoga is suitable for a person who has been inactive for a while or forever and yoga is also suitable for super active people too to hit a pause button or slow down, because yoga can be practiced in very many different forms and according to an individuals pace in that given monent time and energy.
One beautiful description which I can correlate to deeply is by Verna saying,
Yoga is NOT ABOUT BEING FLEXIBLE.

Yoga is about showing up on your mat daily with no expectations of how it should go. It's about NOT believing the labels like "too injured" or "too old" and finding a new way to be the best version of yourself. Yoga is a lifestyle not an exercise program although, yoga has no judgement if you only want to use the poses to exercise. Yoga is about discovering that those crazy thoughts in your head about why you "can't" or "shouldn't" are not true. It is about slowing down and seeking something greater than yourself. Yoga is more than what you wear or if you can handstand.
YOGA IS THE ULTIMATE PRACTICE OF LOVE.

Our Earth is so special not just because of her majestic beauty and wisdom but because she connects us, all of us. No matter who we are or where we are from, we all share a collective home, our planet home.

We are reminded now more than ever of our interconnectedness not only with one another but with nature and our planet. The Earth needs our help, and we need her. There is a direct relationship between our health and nature’s ecosystems. And so if we are looking to take care of ourselves we must consider how we care for our planet and when we are looking to take care of our planet we must consider how we take care of ourselves.
