Don't Let Stress Run Your Life!

Stress protects you when you're in danger, helps you rise to challenges, and sharpens your concentration when it's time to focus. Does this sound like you when you're stressed out? For many, the answer is no! When working the way it's meant to, stress can be very productive. But when stress is chronic, it isn't serving you and can really take a toll on your health, affecting sleep, mood, concentration, immune functioning and blood pressure as well as many other biological processes. When stress feels like it's getting out of hand, it's time to take some steps to get it back under control.

Here a few strategies to help you do just that:

• Set priorities. Make a "to-do" list of the things in your life that need to be taken care of and put them in order, starting with items that need to be accomplished first. By using your time to get major obligations out of the way, you'll feel more productive and even satisfied by crossing the big things off your list. Prioritizing will also help keep your focus off of the trivia that eats up your time.

• Ask for help. You're not alone! Everyone has certain times that are more hectic than others. There is nothing wrong with asking for help. Take a look at your list and see, for example, if there's anything that can be delegated to someone else.

• Schedule for pleasure. When thinking about your priorities it's important to include activities that help you let off a little steam. These can include hobbies that you find relaxing, playing a sport, getting a massage, or watching a movie. It's easy to let relaxing activities fall by the way side, but in the long run, these might be just as important as any other obligation. Participating in a relaxing activity you enjoy will at the very least, give your body a stress-free break and can reduce your heart rate, slow your breath, and calm you down, providing you with many positive health benefits like lower blood pressure and increased immune functioning. [1]

• Change your menu. Healthful eating habits are part of low-stress living. Managing your diet choices will contribute to reducing stress and increasing your overall well-being. Some people eat poorly when they are stressed, and as a result are more stressed because of the effects of unhealthy eating. Whichever is the case for you (or perhaps both), making small changes -- as studies have shown -- like decreasing sugar, caffeine or alcohol can help to make you more immune to stress.

• Don't skimp on the sleep. Stress also reduces the amount and quality of sleep you get. Build a "power down hour" into your evening, when you turn off the electronics and do something calming like drinking a cup of chamomile tea or reading a book an hour before bedtime.

• Get a move on. The Center for Disease Control recommends 150 minutes a week (30 minutes a day) of moderate-intensity aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity. Exercise improves your mood by releasing "feel-good" chemicals in your brain, thus reducing stress.

• Relaxation exercises. Practice relaxation strategies on a regular basis. These can be short meditations, breathing exercises, muscle relaxation strategies, or visualizations. I offer some very user friendly examples of these in my book Stage Climbing: The Shortest Path to Your Highest Potential.

There are many tools to use to get your stress under control. Start just by trying some of the ones that speak to you and soon you'll no longer be letting stress run your life!

U can have 1 glass of lukewarm water+ half lemon juice on empty stomach for Best Results..

Instead of getting a cup of coffee, why not replace it with a warm water lemon drink!? Below are the good factors to consider.

1. Boosts your immune system: Lemons are high in vitamin C, which is great for fighting colds. They’re high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function. Potassium also helps control blood pressure.

2. Balances pH: Drink lemon water everyday and you’ll reduce your body’s overall acidity. Lemon is one of the most alkaline foods around. Yes, lemon has citric acid but it does not create acidity in the body once metabolized.

3. Helps with weight loss: Lemons are high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings. It also has been shown that people who maintain a more alkaline diet lose weight faster.

4. Aids digestion: Lemon juice helps flush out unwanted materials. It encourages the liver to produce bile which is an acid that required for digestion. Efficient digestion reduces heartburn and constipation.

5. Is a diuretic: Lemons increase the rate of urination in the body, which helps purify it. Toxins are, therefore, released at a faster rate which helps keep your urinary tract healthy.

6. Clears skin: The vitamin C component helps decrease wrinkles and blemishes. Lemon water purges toxins from the blood which helps keep skin clear as well. It can actually be applied directly to scars to help reduce their appearance.

7. Freshens breath: Not only this, but it can help relieve tooth pain and gingivitis. The citric acid can erode tooth enamel, so you should monitor this.

8. Relieves respiratory problems: Warm lemon water helps get rid of chest infections and halt those pesky coughs. It’s thought to be helpful to people with asthma and allergies too.

9. Keeps you zen: Vitamin C is one of the first things depleted when you subject your mind and body to stress. As mentioned previously, lemons are chock full of vitamin C.

10. Helps kick the coffee habit: After taking a glass of warm lemon water, most people suggests of less craving for coffee in the morning.

Why it has to be warm water not cold? Cold water likely provides a shock or stress factor to the body. It takes energy for your body to process cold water.

The recipe is really simple - a cup of warm water (not hot) and the juice from half of a lemon.

HOME REMEDIES FOR SINUS.....

Sinus problem or Sinusitis is a frustrating health issue that might sometimes, lead to low self-confidence, frustration, low performance at work or studies, and the list is never-ending. Several medications that promise instant relief from sinus, are available in the market but do they really help in relieving you from the problem? No, they just can't.

Its a common sight, seeing someone suffering from sinus infection for quite long and trying all sorts of medication to get rid of the inflammation. Such victims also use nasal spray but such objects bring short term relief only. And unfortunately, one has to bear the brunt of trusting the so-called 'sinus treatments'. Finally, its just the natural home remedies that bring genuine relief in such ill-health conditions.

Sinus can be very annoying at times, so do not let it take the better of you. Here are some of the natural ways that might help you:

Fenugreek seeds: one of the most effective ways to deal with sinusitis is to drink tea made with fenugreek seeds. It shortens the period of fever and helps your body to perspire. Boil 2 tablespoon of the seeds. Drink it 3-4 times daily and as the condition improves the quantity should be reduced accordingly.

Cumin seeds: another measure is to inhale the steam of cumin seeds tied in a piece of cloth and put it in boiling water. Or an alternative is to take grounded cumin seeds with honey which also helps in relieving the sinus.

Vitamin A rich sources: mango, papaya, egg yoke, pumpkin, leafy vegetables that are rich in vitamin A helps in the treatment and prevention of sinusitis. Vitamin C also proves helpful in the treatment to some extent.

Intake of onion and garlic: increase your intake of onion and garlic. This helps in the movement of the mucus making it less sticky. Black pepper also helps in treating respiratory infections. Vegetable Juice: to a large extent vegetable juice such as carrot juice, beet and spinach juice etc. are beneficial in the treatment.

Apart from these, there are other methods and measures to treat and prevent sinusitis:

1) Add few drop of eucalyptus in boiling water and inhale the steam, this provides you relief. Also you can add it to warm water and bathe with it.

2) Apply clothes dipped in warm water on your eyes and cheekbones to get relief from the pain.

3) While blowing your nose, prevent building up of pressure in your ears by blowing only one nostril at a time.

4) Whenever you feel stuffiness, sniffle your nose, this will help in the movement of the mucus and drain the secretions.

5) Avoid starchy and oily-fried foods; also avoid using perfumes and strong scented hair oils.

6) Drink plenty of fluids, stay in shape by eating right and take adequate rest.

7) Maintain a healthy immune system, wash your hands very often and do not share utensils if any of your near and dear ones have a cold or flu.

8) See to it that you avoid allergy for this is one major cause that easily triggers sinusitis.

A well balanced diet is a must once you start recovering from it but when you are suffering from severe acute attacks then it is best to avoid any solid foods, substitute it with liquids like vegetable juice or fruit juice

5 Steps to a flat tummy

You've been missing your routine at the gym very often thanks to your busy schedule (or plain laziness) and suddenly you realize that in one week you have to attend a wedding.

You want to wear your favourite saree or figure-hugging dress but are worried about your flabby stomach bulging out. Well, you still have a last option. While you cannot reduce fat, you can lose belly fat by decreasing your total body fat percentage. And you don't have to completely alter your daily habits to get a flat stomach within 7 days!

Step one:

If you want to build muscle and burn fat at the same time, you have to perform circuit training, three days per week. How can you achieve this? Indulge in full body exercises like lunges, push-ups, and pull-ups, for one set of 15 repetitions. Don't forget to follow every exercise with one minute of jumping rope. You should be able to burn around 500 to 600 calories per workout.

Step two:

You have to work on your abdominal muscles three times in the week. Crunches and leg raises for three sets of 20 repetitions should be done. Also, do planks by holding your body in a push-up position on your elbows for 30 to 60 seconds for four sets.

Step three:

The kind of food you will eat in this period is vital in bringing about any change. Natural foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads and pastas, chicken, beef, fish and low fat dairy should replace processed foods full of sugar.

Step four:

To minimize water retention, lower your sodium intake. This means you need to avoid salt. You can flavour your food with other herbs and spices instead.

Step five:

Stressing and anxiety can cause the over-production of a certain hormone called cortisol, which encourages weight gain about the belly area. So try to keep your cool!

NATURAL REMEDIES FOR ACID REFLUX

Acid reflux, also called heartburn or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), happens when stomach acid rises into the esophagus due to a weakened esophageal sphincter, according to doctors at the Jackson Siegelbaum Gastroenterology clinic. Chest discomfort, a burning sensation in your upper stomach or lower throat and occasionally a bad taste in your mouth characterize the disease. If you're tired of buying a new pack of antacids every day, perhaps a diet change can do the trick.

Complex Carbs
Eat breads and grains that are low in fat and high in complex carbohydrates, recommends Jackson Siegelbaum Gastroenterology. Try to avoid heavily processed breads that are high in fat and low in nutrition. Writers at Health Castle recommend eating multiple small meals every day instead of large meals since a large meal on your stomach requires additional stomach acids. Make sure you eat plenty of rice, pasta and breads. These help ensure that the acids in your stomach have complex foods to break down.

Vegetables/Fruits
Avoid processed fruits and vegetables or foods that have a high citric acid content, according to Jackson Siegelbaum Gastroenterology. Its doctors recommend eating apples, bananas and other fresh fruit. Apples are high in complex carbohydrates, and researchers at HealthCave.com say that they contain chemicals that help strengthen the sphincter muscle that causes acid reflux. Bananas are natural antacids, according to the website. Another helpful tip is to take 2 tsp. apple cider vinegar with lukewarm water daily. Researchers at HealthCave.com say the solution helps prevent acid buildup.

Dairy Products
Milk, cheese and other dairy products are naturally high in calcium, a natural inhibitor of stomach acid, according to HealthCave.com. Jackson Siegelbaum Gastroenterology notes that you should choose skim or other low-fat dairy products because foods that contain high fat content will remain in your stomach for a longer period than low-fat foods. You should also avoid eating at fast food chains, since many of the products found in fast food restaurants are high in fat content.
