At Priyank Physio Clinic, we offer customized physiotherapy treatment plans for badminton players. Our aim is to help you improve your performance on the court, prevent injuries, and recover quickly from any existing injuries. Here are some of the treatments we offer:

Manual Therapy - This involves hands-on techniques to improve joint and soft tissue mobility, reduce pain, and improve muscle function.

Exercise Therapy - We design specific exercises to improve your strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, which are all essential for badminton players.

Sports Massage - This helps to reduce muscle tension, improve blood flow, and enhance recovery after training or competition.

Electrotherapy - We use electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and other modalities to reduce pain and inflammation and promote healing.

Injury Prevention - We provide education on proper warm-up and cool-down techniques, correct posture, and other strategies to prevent injuries.

We understand that each athlete is unique, and we tailor our treatment plans to meet your individual needs. Our goal is to help you achieve your full potential and stay healthy on and off the court.

Please feel free to contact us to schedule an appointment or to learn more about our services.

Best regards,
Priyank Physio

Got Swimmers shoulder?
Having swimmers shoulder does not mean you need to stop swimming all together. There are multiple ways you can modify your workouts when you have swimmers shoulder. These modifications will allow you to still swim, keeping you on track to reach your goals. Some of my favorite ways to modify your swimming are

Decrease training volume
Limit the painful stroke
Using fist drill
Bilateral breathing
Increasing body roll

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a type of inflammatory arthritis that primarily affects the spine and the sacroiliac joints (the joints between the spine and pelvis). It is a chronic condition that can cause stiffness, pain, and restricted movement in the affected joints. It is more common in men than in women and typically develops in people under the age of 40.
The exact cause of AS is not known, but it is thought to be related to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. The condition is associated with a gene called HLA-B27, which is present in about 90% of people with AS.
The symptoms of AS can vary widely between individuals, but they typically develop gradually over time. The most common symptom is pain and stiffness in the lower back, which is often worse in the morning or after periods of inactivity. The pain can also radiate to other parts of the body, such as the hips, shoulders, and neck. Other symptoms may include fatigue, loss of appetite, weight loss, and fever. The pain and stiffness are often worse in the morning or after prolonged periods of inactivity and may improve with exercise or activity.
Other symptoms of AS may include:
Pain and stiffness in the neck, hips, shoulders, and other joints
Fatigue
Loss of appetite
Eye inflammation (uveitis)
Chest pain or difficulty breathing (if the disease affects the ribs or lungs)
The exact cause of AS is unknown, but it is believed to involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors. There is no cure for AS, but treatment options such as medication, physical therapy, and exercise can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

What is the actual cause of knee pain?

🤔 What are the actual causes of Osteoarthritis (OA)?

👉 From Howard Luks MD 's own words:

"OA isn't predominantly a "wear and tear" phenomenon. The root cause isn't known.. but the association with metabolic disease is strong. Not in all cases... but in a large percentage."

In patients with symptoms of nerve root compression, there are four levels of potential compression.

👇 👇 👇

👉Disc level (central)
-This is the most common area where nerves are compressed-mostly by herniated discs and less frequently due to spinal stenosis. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25659245/, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8186959/, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24365318/, https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8883210/

👉 Level of lateral recess
-This is the area below the disc where the nerve runs more laterally towards the foramen. Narrowing of the lateral recess is caused by facet arthrosis, usually in combination with hypertrophy of the flavum ligament and bulging of the disc. https://asmedigitalcollection.asme.org/biomechanical/article-abstract/133/7/071010/455239/Spinal-Facet-Joint-Biomechanics-and?redirectedFrom=fulltext

👉 Foramen
-This is the area between two pedicles, where the nerve leaves the spinal canal. Narrowing of the foramen is seen in facet arthrosis, spondylolisthesis and foraminal disc herniation - usually a migrated disc from a lower level. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33441430/

👉 Extra-foraminal
-This is the area lateral to the foramen. Nerve compression in this area is uncommon, but is sometimes caused by a laterally herniated disc. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33441430/

📍 At these four levels there can be a lot of overlap of pathology. For instance a herniated disc can cause nerve compression at the level of the disc, but also at the level of the foramen or extra-foraminal when there is migration of the disc.
