Over the years and since my understanding of the term 'pride' in the sense of identity - I have attempted to get to know the community, make friends from there, open up mental health accessibility, be a loyal ally and spread awareness each about the of the LGBTQIA+ community throughout the year. Each step is small. But hoping each small step leaves a big impact. 🏳️🌈💛

17.05.2023 - A workshop on Identification & Intervention for Special Needs in th classroom along with Differentiated instructions
•
Ms. Anvesha Fomra had come in for a teacher's training at Podar and I got a chance to sit in on her session. What a fantastic training this was!
•
1. The difference between integration & inclusion - Integration is having the child with special kids in the same environment as other kids. Inclusion is having the child in the same environment along with accomodation and modifications the child needs both in the classroom and rest of the environment.
2. I learned the 3 rules for identification and supporting the child: The 4 step identification process | The FID Rule | The Power of 5 Rule.
3. The fine balance between Dyslexia and general reading difficulty is that children with dyslexia have a low vocabulary for their age. This is a major marker.
4. Use neutral vocabulary - The language we use in front of the children about the child's gap or concern is the language they will imbibe for themselves.
5. The importance of demonstration and modelling with the entire class when helping a child with their behaviour.
6. Teaching children through movement the importance of others' presence.

Back in 2018 - Mental Health Care was just picking up and people were reaching out for help to understand their emotions, their mental state and build on their coping mechanisms.
Through continuous work both with our clients and our own self work - we realised that everyone was seeking out one thing: 'balance' ; 'harmony'.
They didn't want quick fixes or situational solutions - they wanted long term calm, strength and resilience to healthy coping with life's journey.
Till then Ekya neither had a name nor a logo. But through these explorations and reflections - we decided our logo would symbolize the human and the harmony.
Hence our logo is a being attaining harmony with a peaceful aura or bloom of the Lotus around them. It shows contentment, calm, hope, strength and most importantly possibility.
-Harshika
These will be added onto our vision each year thereby making it all encompassing.
Each year Ekya strives to build the Mental Health Platform & Accessibility realistically in terms of its reach, ethics and affordability in India. While we are very aware, a 100% is unlikely, anything beyond 10% reach and 1 place beyond our imagination is a win!
Mental Health is slow progress, but with consistency we'll get there and so will the people reaching out to us.
Ekya stands for inner harmony. To attain inner harmony - we need to be able to invest in ourselves to grow and evolve.
And Ekya's vision is going to allow you to do just that - through the principles of psychology and counselling.

Dear Ekya,
These last 5 years were bitter sweet. We *started small by taking realistic leaps* of faith - one client, one age group, one culture and one population at a time.
Each time we grew, there was an *obstacle to face.* But with each obstacle we conquered - we also learned unlearned, and relearned. We explored *outside our comfort zone, built new bonds and kept our commitments to those who trusted us.*
We've experimented, paused, improved, detoxed what doesn't suit us and more than anything *maintained authenticity and the intention of service* no matter how hard things became.
We have *established* ourselves worldwide and identified our niche, skills and moving towards newer knowledge for better skills.
Today, though we have slowed down, gone 50 steps back and are steadily revamping, *I believe that this year too we will succeed as we have always.*
We never gave up despite a 100 doubts each time. *That is the passion we have for Mental Health and each being whom we heal.*
This year let's heal more and touch the masses.
Love,
Harshika

Mental Health problems don't define who you are. They are something you experience. You walk in the rain and you feel the rain, but you are not the rain!
- Matt Haig
In psychology, self-diagnosis refers to the practice of an individual diagnosing themselves with a mental health disorder without the help of a licensed mental health professional.
Self-diagnosis can be problematic because mental health disorders are complex and can have overlapping symptoms. Without proper training and expertise, individuals may misinterpret their symptoms or mistakenly diagnose themselves with a disorder they do not have. This can lead to unnecessary anxiety, stigma, and even harm if the person attempts to self-treat or makes important life decisions based on an inaccurate diagnosis.
It's important to note that self-diagnosis should not be a substitute for seeking professional help. A licensed mental health professional can provide a thorough evaluation and diagnosis, as well as personalized treatment options tailored to the individual's specific needs.
Healthy relationships involve honesty, trust, respect, and open communication between partners, and they make effort and compromise from both people. There is no imbalance of power. Partners respect each other's independence, can make their own decisions without fear of retribution or retaliation, and share decisions.
Are you struggling with your relationship? Reach out to us.
A healthy relationship is important even between friends and family members! The definition encompasses all kinds of relationships, though it emphasise on partner.

Workplace burnout refers to a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion that arises from prolonged exposure to workplace stress.
Some common symptoms of burnout include:
-Decreased performance
-Exhaustion
-Irritability
-Negative attitudes
-Substance use
There are many factors that can lead to workplace burnout, and they can vary depending on the situation. Some common causes include:
-Excessive workload
-Dissatisfaction with the job
-Poor work-life balance
-Lack of or insufficient peer or team support
-Workplace politics
Do keep in mind however, that the symptoms of burnout may vary from person to person, and not everyone experiences all of these symptoms in the exact same way.
If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, it is important to recognize them and take necessary steps to address them and seek help from colleagues, friends, family members, or a mental health professional.
Toxic positivity is the idea that no matter the circumstance, individuals must maintain a positive attitude, ignoring any challenge or distressing emotions. Although positive thinking and optimism can be advantageous, toxic positivity dismisses any negative feelings and presents a forced and insincere positive outlook..
Toxic positivity
invalidates unfavorable emotions such as sadness, anger.
prevents individuals from seeking help even when they need it
dismisses others' experiences
creates unrealistic expectations.
Some examples of toxic positivity are:
When a friend loses their wallet and you say “just be positive” or “It’s fine, look on the bright side”, it can be described as toxic positivity
When a colleague is going through a tough time because they have just lost their pet dog, saying “everything happens for a reason” “look on the bright side” is toxic positivity
Therefore, even though having optimism and being positive is good, recognizing and acknowledging negative emotions and experiences is also crucial because negative emotions and pain are unavoidable in life and it is only when we feel these uncomfortable emotions, we learn to accept them and move on.
