WHO NEEDS A STENT WHEN A BALLOON CAN DELIVER THE DRUG !!!
WELCOME TO THE ERA OF STENTLESS/ METAL LESS ANGIOPLASTY !!!
Last Saturday was a day of stentless day at cath lab of Jinkushal Cardiac Care and Superspeciality Hospital since 3 of our patients underwent angioplasty without a stent.
All three came for follow up today so posting today !!
Case 1:
48 female, came from Gujarat, Acute coronary syndrome thrombolysis done there. Angio showed double vessel disease with tight 95% 2 lesions in LCX. Distal LCX was small and hence we used 2 DCB (Drug Coated Balloon)rather than a stent.
Case 2:
55 male, from Shahpur, had a stent in LAD used a year back at some other set up. Came with NSTEMI (heart attack). Had LAD instent 99% lesion. Underwent angioplasty with cutting balloons and DCB. All went well.
Case 3:
Young patient from Bhiwandi, Acute coronary syndrome, tight 95% lesion in the ostium of LAD. Of stent was to be used it had to be Left main to LAD jeopardizing the flow in LCX. Hence we decided to use DCB (drug coated balloon) after using a cutting balloon for ostial LAD.
So all three patients went home after angioplasty BUT WITHOUT A STENT !!
