For 2 decades now, Thane CPCA , formerly well known as Thane SPCA, has been working in the district of Thane to alleviate the sufferings of ownerless animals, inflicted on them by humans, nature or environment. In the summer of 2002, a handful of animal lovers took upon themselves, the onus of bringing to street animals, the care and attention they deserve. The working group started as caretakers

on the streets of Thane, went on to build a hospital with the support of 4 animal ambulances and a 26 member staff team. An initiative that began to address the health and cruelty issues being meted out to street animals, has been now elevated to regulation and interaction with the Government sector and fellow organisations in the voluntary sector to ensure animals get their rights. This is done by a core group of Trustees and Patron members by setting high operating standards set by selfless principles. We aspire to build faith and trust between the Government and Non-Government sector which will be the only way to bring full relief to suffering animals. The norms for foundation of the organization were set in their Vision and Mission Statement along with its Objectives. The hallmark of this organization was and always will be honesty, transparency, good governance, public disclosure and accountability. After these hours, only emergencies are attended inside the hospital premises. Our Hospital is open between 9 AM and 9 PM for OPD patients, every day of the year. However, only our ambulance staff are allowed to leave the premises between 10 AM and 6:30 PM for attending rescue calls. Our night staff will not leave the hospital premises to attend calls between 6:30 PM and 10:00 AM. Please co-operate.Our Hospital is open for visits from 4 PM to 5 PM on all days except Public Holidays. Please contact our office on 09322271966 for an appointment in case you want to visit at a different time.

From Dr. Vandan Modi's desk :

" Conventional methods for detecting viral diseases can be laborious, sometimes ineffective. PCR provides rapid and accurate results. It's ability to amplify specific DNA sequence makes it powerful diagnostic tool.

It can detect pathogens such as virus, bacteria, fatal diseases such as FIP in felines, canine distemper, apart from being an important tool for detection of haemoprotozoal parasites.

We are grateful to our esteemed donors who supported us in procuring this equipment ".

Since PBFD is extremely infectious, it's easily spread at feeding, roosting, nesting and watering sites – wherever birds flock together.
There is no treatment or known cure, so preventing the spread of the disease is the only way we can control it.
So if you are planning to "buy" the birds from bird markets with zero hygiene and welfare standards : BEWARE, you might lose your flock in no time. Boycott bird markets like Crawford or Kurla.

Since 2015 we have been associated with Guidestar India. And for the 6th year in a row we have retained their highest Champion level certification : Platinum. With this, once again we have joined India's largest pool of credible NGOs after undergoing a rigorous due diligence process indicating a high level of accountability and good governance by our organisation. Please visit https://guidestarindia.org/GSN-1894/ThaneCPCA

We loved the rigorous audit that we went through : our has not only made us stronger but also nite confident that we are fully compliant, as all NGOs should be. And for this we thank and a very big pat on the back to our Operations Manager . Thank you Indraneel for the voluminous documentation and coordination that you did.

The World Veterinary Day is commemorated to honour the veterinary profession.

The theme for The World Veterinary Day is "Veterinarians: Guardians of Food and Health". The day highlights the critical role vets play in food safety, public health, and animal welfare, ensuring safe, sustainable "farm-to-fork" food systems and combating zoonotic diseases and antimicrobial resistance.

To all the veterinarians out there : Thank you so much for all you do, both for the animals and the people who love them. You deal with both sides, and you do a beautiful job at both. We cannot thank you enough.

Mast cell tumors is highly common in dogs and represents the third most common tumor subtype. It is the most common malignant skin tumor in dogs, corresponding to 11% of skin cancer cases.

Most MCTs seem to be caused by a complex mix of risk factors, some environmental and some genetic or hereditary.

Low-grade mast cell tumors tend to have good long-term survival rates of greater than two years, opposed to high-grade MCTs tend to have a poor survival rate, with a median survival time of only two to three months if left untreated.

Dolly is with us now, under treatment for her MCT. She lives with wonderful people in a housing society who take care of her. Keeping our fingers crossed for her.

She is that one of a kind who leaves a huge pawprint on people's hearts, only with the oh-so-happy disposition. So though BellBell has moved to her new family home, she will always be us, technically because she in next door and literally because those pawprints never can be erased...

Animal facility staff and volunteers are everyday heroes, working tirelessly to repair broken bodies and spirits and often dealing with emotional, physical, and mental fatigue to give animals a second chance.
To all our colleagues and all over the world - a huge shout out and thank you for being who you are and what you do.
