We recently hosted our 4th batch of international students from AIMST University, Malaysia, in collaboration with Al Shifa College of Pharmacy. The three-week immersive training program covered Ayurvedic drug designing, new product development, analytical instrumentation, quality control, and herbal authentication.

Beyond the classroom, students had the opportunity to visit the Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI), Peechi, enriching their experience with hands-on learning and fostering cross-cultural exchange in Ayurveda.

The State-Level Workshop on “Conservation, Promotion, and Sustainable Utilization of Medicinal Plants” successfully concluded on 23rd September 2025 at the Golden Jubilee Hall, MSME DFO, Thrissur.

Vaidyaratnam proudly participated in this event organized by AMMOI, which focused on the conservation of Rare, Endangered, and Threatened (RET) medicinal plant species.

Our Executive Director, Ashtavaidyan Dr.E.T Yadu Narayanan Mooss, along with Dr. Sheela Karalam, Dr. Asish G. R, Dr. Remya V, and Dr. Leejo, actively contributed to sessions that focused on:
Cultivation strategies on temple lands & RET species utilization.
Export potential and sustainable sourcing of Ayurvedic medicinal plants.
Advances in tissue culture, biodiversity conservation & legal frameworks in Ayurveda.
Medicinal plant mapping, raw material sourcing & insights into forest law.

The workshop underscored the importance of collaboration, conservation, and innovation in protecting Ayurveda’s rich plant heritage while ensuring its sustainable utilization for future generations.

On 16th September 2025, Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Research Institute, in collaboration with Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College and Ayur.AI, successfully hosted AyuTech – A State-Level Seminar that brought together 200+ enthusiastic participants.

This first-of-its-kind event in Ayurveda explored how Artificial Intelligence can transform Ayurvedic education, research, and clinical practice.

As part of World Breastfeeding Week 2025, a National Online Webinar Series was organized from 01–05 August 2025 by the Kerala University of Health Sciences – School of Fundamental Research in Ayurveda, in association with the Department of Kaumarabhritya, Govt. Ayurveda College, Trippunithura. The central theme of the program was “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems Integrating Ayurvedic Wisdom Across Maternal Stages.”

We are proud to share that Dr. Sheela Karalam B, Chief Scientist and Head of Technical Division, Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Research Institute (VARI), was invited as one of the guest expert speakers in this prestigious series. She delivered a session on “Nurturance through Nature – An Overview of Effective Ayurvedic Formulations in Breastfeeding Practices,” highlighting Ayurvedic wisdom in supporting maternal and child health.

We are proud to share that Dr Remya V., Senior Scientist of Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Research Institute (VARI), and Dr. Leejo Jose, Deputy Manager & QA/QC In-Charge of Vaidyaratnam Oushadhasala, represented our institute at the Capacity Building Workshop on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) as per the Biological Diversity (ABS) Regulation 2025.
Organized by: Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSBB)
This timely workshop brought together key stakeholders from the AYUSH and biodiversity sectors to discuss:
• The Biological Diversity (Amendment) Act, 2023 & Rules, 2024
• The new ABS Regulations, 2025
• Sustainable collection & cultivation of bioresources
• Quality assurance of raw materials and value-added products

Our team actively contributed to dialogues around sustainable practices, ethical bioresource use, and the strategic role of research institutions in aligning traditional medicine with national and international biodiversity laws.
At VARI, we remain committed to promoting scientific Ayurveda, regulatory stewardship, and responsible innovation that respects both community rights and ecological integrity. We are Grateful to KSBB for this collaborative platform that bridges science, policy, and practice.
