Bharath MD Foundation, an organization working for children affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and their families, in collaboration with Aster Medcity Kochi, organized a DMD Awareness Program. The event was held on June 22 at Aster Medcity and was attended by nearly 100 families.

The program was led by Dr. Jason, Head of the Pediatrics Department at Aster Medcity, Dr. Davidson, Pediatric Neurologist, Dr. Parvathi (Endocrinologist), and Mr. Saneesh. Neurologist Dr. Shruthi from Sree Chitra Hospital, Dr. Veena (Endocrinologist), Dr. Lakshmi (Psychologist), Dr. Jimshad from Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, Dr. Sajith Keshavan (Pulmonologist) and Dr. Riya Ashokan from Amrita Hospital also conducted sessions.

Additionally, a team led by Dr. Shankar, Head of the Genetics Department at SAT Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, facilitated ICMR registration for the patients. This marks the first step towards access to newer treatments. Medical details of around 80 children were registered. Ashwathi, Mini, and Vineetha collected the data.

Bharath MD Foundation was formed in March 2022 by four mothers of children affected by DMD. In 2023, they organized a cardiac camp in Thrissur and a special neuromuscular camp in Kochi.
