Nitte College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Pharmacognosy organized a one-day Guest talk on “Herbal Product Design and Development – An Industrial Perspective” on 28th June 2025 at the NSOM Seminar Hall, Nitte Campus, Bangalore.

The event was designed to provide students and faculty with comprehensive insights into the processes involved in the development of herbal products, particularly from an industrial standpoint. Key focus areas included formulation approaches, standardization techniques, regulatory guidelines, and quality control parameters essential for the commercialization of herbal medicines.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Neeraj Kumar Patel, Chief Scientific Officer at Bombay H**p Company. Dr. Patel engaged the students with an enlightening session covering diverse topics such as herbal drugs and phytochemistry, the differentiation between natural and organic products, and the innovative “Trishul Test” used to evaluate herbal product efficacy.

He also outlined the various phases of herbal product design, development, and validation, drawing from real-time industrial examples and case studies. the guest talk proved to be an enriching experience, equipping students with valuable industrial insights into herbal product development.

Pharma Horizons: Crafting Careers in Sales, Marketing & Overseas Education”

The Department of Pharmaceutics, in association with the Placement Cell of Nitte College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bengaluru, organised a guest lecture on the topic “Pharma Horizons: Crafting Careers in Sales, Marketing & Overseas Education” on 25th June 2025 at the college seminar hall. The event was inaugurated by Dr. K. Kavitha, Vice Principal and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics.

The session featured two esteemed speakers: Mr. Nawaz Ahammed, Area Sales Manager at Sun Pharma Laboratories Limited, Bengaluru, who delivered an insightful talk on career opportunities in pharmaceutical sales and marketing, interview preparation strategies, and industry expectations; and Ms. Neha Srivastava, Destination Expert at IDP India Private Limited, Bengaluru, who provided a comprehensive overview of postgraduate pharmacy programs abroad, including details on university selection, registration procedures, intake timelines, financial requirements, documentation, and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Both sessions were highly informative and provided valuable guidance to students in planning their career paths. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Preethi Sudheer, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics.

Yoga for Health
The NSS Unit of Nitte College of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a vibrant celebration of International Yoga Day on June 20, 2025, under the theme “Yoga for Wellness.” The event aimed to raise awareness about the physical and mental benefits of yoga and to encourage its regular practice among students and staff. The session began with a warm welcome, followed by a guided yoga session led by Professor Narayana Babu, a trained yoga instructor.

Participants enthusiastically engaged in various yoga postures, breathing techniques, and relaxation practices, all designed to promote holistic health and well-being.

The program concluded with a collective pledge to incorporate yoga into daily life, along with a message highlighting the vital role of youth in promoting healthy living through traditional practices like yoga. The celebration was a resounding success, reflecting the NSS Unit’s continued commitment to fostering wellness and community engagement on campus.

The Placement Cell of Nitte College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (NCOPS), Bengaluru, organized a guest lecturer on “IPR in Pharma: Exploring the Scope and Impact on Innovation and Development” on June 14, 2025. The session aimed to educate students about the significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on innovation protection, commercialization, and global competitiveness.

The seminar introduced key IPR concepts relevant to pharma, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. Special emphasis was placed on patents, outlining core criteria such as novelty, non-obviousness, and industrial applicability. Students learned how IPR functions as both a legal shield and a commercial tool, providing inventors with a competitive advantage.

The session also highlighted IPR’s critical role in promoting research, protecting investments, and transforming innovations into valuable intellectual assets. It concluded by encouraging students to consider IPR in future pharma innovation and entrepreneurship endeavors.
