Guys, do u know which is the most deadliest of all gynec cancers?
It's the notorious ovarian one.
Its known to b a silent killer.. why?? Well
*it's diagnosed very late, about 70-80 percent diagnosed in late stages
*those diagnosed late have a very dismal survival rate- only 1 out of 2 women will cross the 5 year span with this cancer.
*It has a bad reputation because it has no specific symptoms- random harmless symptoms like bloated feeling, decreased apetite, weight loss and sometimes simply nothing at all is noted.
*It's thrice lethal than breast cancer which is the commonest cancer in Indian women.
So how do we save ourselves from this death trap?
Ponder about this..
When a middle aged or 50-60 year old lady walks into my clinic, she takes utmost pride in saying that
'I have not needed a gynec check after my deliveries 20-30 yrs back'
'I don't have any symptoms, why do unnecessary tests?'
Worse is- once the reports are out and normal-
'Dekh mai boli thi na kuch nahi niklega, fokat mein paisa waste kiya tests pe'
One more reason-
'that doctor has no job but to prescribe unwanted tests and maybe earn some quick buck at our expense'
And the worst reason-
'I feel scared sachmuch kuch nikla toh'😱
Now the good news- if diagnosed in early stage, its definitely curable with surgery with survival of more than 90/100 women.
Hope u all get the point!
So Go ahead- get ur checks done regularly, fearlessly and without being a miser(mentally & financially)😇
Get ur scans, blood tests, tumour markers done- u may just save urself, dear lady!🤗
Face the treatments bravely too, don't give up just with the thought of undergoing chemo, it's side effects, stigma of cancer or a lost confidence of survival.
Sometimes a strong willpower is all that u need to win over this nasty disease!!
Live life to the fullest - even if u r battling the deadly 'C' every single moment!
Easy to preach, difficult to practice- give it a try though!
Happily helped a 35 year old lady get rid of her almost 2 kg ovarian neoplasm(had to remove it intact out of the abdomen to avoid spread) She looked 7 months pregnant but didn't actually realise it unless she had abdo pain once.
Cudnt have a full throttle smile post surgery like I have after delivering babies(because the pending patho report still bothered me) but the satisfaction of making her disease free is definitely visible!😊
Stay healthy, my dear people, and stay happy too! Awareness is the key!
