We all put an irrational amount of pressure on ourselves to be productive. We are setting expectations for ourselves that are unrealistic, and then a mental pressure if we are unable to achieve them. Everyone needs a break from time to time, but it can be hard to recognize when it’s time to hit pause.
Everyone deserves a break. If they want, when they need and as situation demands.

- A heartfelt note for everyone who encouraged and appreciated the work on .he.mi - soul.heart.mind
The process of taking a break wasn’t easy. But I knew it was needed. I started this page out of passion and tried to build my profession on similar lines. People choosing this field are no different and experience a lot of emotions, setbacks and unfortunate experiences in life. ( From what i have observed, people choosing this field witness and feel things deeply, they choose to learn ways for themselves and others who seek help).

This period of pause didn’t give me any kind of magical aspirations or enlightenment to be honest. But this break was needed to feel refreshed and keep my guards down for once.

The most important realisation that i had during this time was that people feel they can’t afford taking a break anymore. Even amidst the pandemic we were seeking ways to have the first mover advantage. It’s great to be productive, motivated and energetic in life. But let’s take a break when we need it and not when it’s gets too late.

It’s okay to take a break when you are feeling overwhelmed and reprioritise what’s important.

We nowadays like to push ourselves and exceed our boundaries to see how far we can go in order to achieve our goals. All that pushing can feel so smart and productive - until you’re exhausted, overextended, overwhelmed or otherwise ready to snap.

We all talk about being unstoppable, productive, hustling, running and winning. But what if our mind demands a pause and our body wants some rest?

- LET’s NORMALISE TAKING A BREAK

Be so rooted in your being, that nobody’s absence or presence can disturb your inner peace!
One form of self care is Spiritual self care. It doesn’t necessarily have to relate to religion; it nourishes your inner soul, gives you a purpose in life and helps you find your inner peace. It associates you to the genuine “YOU”.
The following can be added in your self care checklist and put the delete button of your brain to use!
✅ Practice meditation 🧘. Deep breaths are like little love notes to your body. It’s the journey from sound to silence, from movement to stillness, from a limited identity to unlimited space.
✅ In the era of social media and workaholic competition, we have forgotten how important it is to take a small fresh stroll outside. To save time we prefer vehicles, but we don’t realise the importance of walking. It’s rightly said a walk in nature walks the soul back home!
✅ Journalling always helps! It helps you pen down all your thoughts, gives your mind a clear space and relaxes your inner system. It’s a great way to manifest your thoughts and feelings and track their results on your life.
✅ Putting yourself first is important even if costs a cut from your loved ones. You should be your top priority! You deserve much better. Life is way too short to not be putting your happiness first!
✅ Forgive yourself. It’s really important. Be a little soft on yourself. Speak kindly to and about yourself. The social media and the pressure society creates about everything ;shaming and ghosting done in this respect has limited the true meaning of actual happiness and spending time with loved ones.
Be proud of yourself for ignoring the negativity each day and focusing on the positives.
Do things that make you feel more like yourself.
Loving yourself is no small feat.
It’s not an expense, it’s an investment!
Let’s love and care for ourselves the way we would love and care for others.
Explore yourself before your explore others. You need yourself to become your own!

You are the artist of your own life, don’t hand the paintbrush to anyone else!
One form of self care is Social self care. It includes having a strong foundation and gathering of trust and belief . It involves connection with other beings and it’s not just you in the equation. Another life merges with you.
The following can be added in your self care checklist and put the delete button of your brain to use!
✅ Add and connect with those people who bring a smile to your face, surround yourself with those who provide a positive aura around you.
✅ Reconnect with an old friend and re- cherish those memories that you both had a blast about.
✅ Meet new people actually. Meeting new people gives you options to explore and helps you understand diversity. It’s great to explore inner personalities!
✅ Have a social media detox. Stop comparing yourself with strangers accomplishments. You don’t have to post it to prove it!
✅ Catch up with your loved ones and talk beyond work. Interesting conversations are made automatically when loved ones are around. Spend time with your family and have your favourite meals. Family is like music, some high notes; some low notes; but always a beautiful song.
Do things that make you feel more like yourself.
Loving yourself is no small feat.
It’s not an expense, it’s an investment!

✅ Write a gratitude jar or journal; tune into your own feelings every single day! Be grateful of the little things you have in life. Those things are still a dream for someone!
✅ Say “NO” when you simply don’t feel like saying “YES”!
Saying no is also a form of self care. Might not sound easy but definitely makes your life easier when you specially aren’t willing to actually explore something.
✅ Practice Self- Compassion. It reflects the same kindness to oneself we would offer to others. Being mean to oneself won’t fix anything. Remember we are our hardest critics. Go a little easy on yourself. Trust me all of us are walking our own best paths!
✅ There are tons of emotions we are capable of experiencing. Acknowledge your emotions. It’s okay not to be okay! Figuring out a hobby or passion and creative use of our mind helps us to withstand these emotional thoughts in the right direction. There is more right with you than wrong with you!

According to The Body Positive organization, “Beauty is not a single image, but the active embodiment and celebration of the self.”
Research suggests that focusing on building self-confidence and a positive body image may help reduce obesity and achieve wider health goals.
Positive body image can be enhanced and inculcated through simply accepting certain points:
- Spend time with people who have a positive outlook.
-Avoid comparing yourself with other people.
-Remember that beauty is not just about appearance.
- Appreciate what your body can do, such as laughing, dancing, and creating.
-Be actively critical of media messages and images that make you feel as if you should be different.
-Make a list of 10 things you like about yourself.
-See yourself as a whole person, not an imperfect body part.
-Instead of spending time thinking about your body, start a hobby, become a volunteer, or do something else that makes you feel good about yourself.
-Aim for a healthful lifestyle, which might include eating a varied and nutritious diet.
This is your reminder than you more than just your appearance.
Let’s appreciate our own uniqueness we are gifted with.

Body image is the subjective image people have of their own body, which is different from how their body actually appears.
Body image is a complex construct and is made up of beliefs, thoughts, perceptions, feelings, and behaviors.
Body image distress is often seen as a symptom of an Eating Disorder.
Eating disorders are complex mental illnesses caused by genetic as well as environmental factors – negative body image is just one potential contributor.
This creates an additional disturbance in the way one’s body weight or shape is experienced or an inability to recognize the seriousness of the current low body weight.
It starts with a feeling of unhappiness about one’s body image and weight. It can also cause a person to binge-eat.
Don’t look at yourself through their eyes! If you wouldn’t say it to your friend, don’t say it to yourself too...
Don’t be hungry every single day to make other people happy!
Let’s appreciate our own uniqueness we are gifted with.

Body image plays a significant role as it is one of the components of the individual’s self-concept.In a way, the perception of our body and those feelings, which are associated with this image greatly influence not only our self-concept, but our self-esteem, too.
Do you wish to get out of the vicious circle?
You can always opt for simpler ways like, having more acceptance for the way you look and refrain from body shaming your own self. Moreover, stand in front of mirror and appreciate your features, try pampering yourself, avoid comparisons because you are your own set of beautiful.
You are worthy and you are extremely elegant.
Stand in front of the mirror and repeat the following lines-
Dear body,
You were never a problem because your are good as your are,
You’re strong, you’re beautiful, you’re enough and you’re mine.
Don’t look at yourself through their eyes! If you wouldn’t say it to your friend, don’t say it to yourself too.
Let’s appreciate our own uniqueness we are gifted with.

Let’s be careful of using the terms that can have an impact on people to an extent of leading to overthinking, compulsive action, social disapproval.
OCD ( Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is like having two brains; a rational and an irrational brain. And they are constantly fighting.
It’s not a personality trait.
It’s a medical problem, and not anyone’s fault.
It isn’t just about being a neat freak. It isn’t just about keeping things neat and clean; but it also adds on obsessively performing rituals that provide relief to an overwhelming anxiety.
People having OCD continuously go through the stages of its cycle starting from Obsessions-> Anxiety-> Compulsions-> Relief.
The current week is and henceforth; on this note let’s create awareness on what OCD is.
It’s actually more than what most people think it is!
Let’s choose our words wisely and not forcefully tag them.
These words can only be forgiven not forgotten!

When you like to have clean hands/ body; it’s called being hygienic.
Let’s not confuse it with a complex and pervasive mental health issue!

You would never say “You are a broken leg”!
You will say “You have a broken leg”!
Isn’t it?
Henceforth, shouldn’t we be treating mental illness in the same manner.
*You are not OCD, you would have OCD*

People with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) experience obsessions, compulsions, or both.
Obsessions are thoughts, images or impulses that occur over and over again and feel outside of the person’s control. Individuals with OCD do not want to have these thoughts and find them disturbing. In the context of OCD, obsessions are time consuming and get in the way of important activities the person values. This part is extremely important to keep in mind as it, determines whether someone has OCD, a psychological disorder rather than an obsessive personality trait.
Compulsions are the second part of obsessive compulsive disorder. These are repetitive behaviors or thoughts that a person uses with the intention of neutralizing, counteracting, or making their obsessions go away. Compulsions can also include avoiding situations that trigger obsessions. Compulsions are time consuming and get in the way of important activities the person values.
