Outreach Program by M-AFHC SNM Leh at Govt. Middle School Sanker

M-AFHC SNM Leh organized a comprehensive outreach session at Government Middle School, Sanker, focusing on mental health, hygiene, and adolescent well-being.

Speakers:
Dr. Rubina Jabeen – Medical Officer
Ms. Mariyah Samreen – Clinical Psychologist
Mr. Tanveer Ahmad – AFHC Counsellor

Session Highlights:

Mental Health Awareness
Ms. Mariyah Samreen conducted an engaging session on stress management, anxiety, and depression, helping students understand early signs, coping mechanisms, and when to seek help. She encouraged open discussion and shared practical mental wellness tips suited for adolescents.

Health & Hygiene
Dr. Rubina Jabeen emphasized the importance of daily hygiene habits, nutrition, and disease prevention. She also explained how poor hygiene can affect both physical and mental well-being.

Adolescent Health Education
A separate session focused on STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections) and RTIs (Reproductive Tract Infections), where students were informed about causes, symptoms, prevention, and the importance of seeking timely medical advice. Topics like menstrual hygiene and physical changes during puberty were also discussed.

Individual Counselling Sessions
The program concluded with one-on-one counselling for students who wanted to discuss personal issues, emotional concerns, or health-related queries in a safe, private setting. Many students actively participated and appreciated the opportunity for confidential guidance.

Outreach Program by Model AFHC Clinic SNM Leh at Govt. Middle School Skara Leh

The Model Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic (AFHC) SNM Leh conducted an outreach program at Govt. Middle School Skara, Leh, engaging 27 students in an interactive session on adolescent health and well-being.

Speakers:
• Tanveer Ahmad – AFHC Counsellor
• Kesang Angmo – Volunteer/Trainee (Advanced Diploma in Guidance and Counselling)

Topics Covered:

Changes in Adolescence – Understanding physical, emotional, and psychological transitions.
Healthy Eating Habits – Importance of balanced nutrition for growth and development.
Substance Abuse Awareness – Educating students on risks and prevention strategies.

Additionally, the Deworming Day was also monitored.

The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and gaining valuable insights into maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Adolescent Health and Wellness Day Celebrated at AMT School SNM Leh .

Model Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic SNM Leh conducted Adolescent Health and Wellness Day with the theme “Substance Use: How to Stay Away from It.” The event aimed to educate students about the dangers of substance use and promote healthy lifestyle choices.

Speakers:
Dr. Rubina Jabeen (MO, AFHC SNM Leh) – Spoke about the importance of the Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic (AFHC) and how adolescents can benefit from it.

Tanveer Ahmad (AFHC Counsellor, SNM) – Delivered a presentation on “Adolescent Health, Peer Pressure, and Substance Use: Challenges and How to Overcome Them.” He discussed the impact of peer influence, effective decision-making, and ways to seek support when facing substance-related challenges.

Tsering Angmo (Social Worker, NTCP Leh) – Raised awareness about the harmful effects of to***co consumption.

Around 39 students participated, engaging in discussions and gaining valuable insights.

Dr. Rinchen Chosdol (Medical Superintendent, SNM Leh) briefed the students about the use of the AFHC clinic, encouraging them to seek support for their health and well-being.

At the end of the session, Dr. Rinchen Chosdol honored the speakers with traditional khataks as a token of appreciation.

A quiz session was also conducted, where students actively participated and showcased their knowledge.

Adolescent Health and Wellness Day Celebrated at AAM Spituk and AAM Choglamsar

Adolescent Health and Wellness Day was marked with enthusiasm at Government Middle School Spituk and Karma Nunnery School Choglamsar. The event focused on raising awareness among adolescents about this year’s crucial theme: Road Traffic Accidents (RTA).

The program featured informative sessions conducted by Tanveer Ahmad, Male Counsellor, and Deachen Angmo, Female Counsellor, from SNM Hospital, Leh. They highlighted the importance of road safety, preventive measures to avoid accidents, and the significance of adhering to traffic rules.

The students actively participated in the discussions, showcasing their interest in understanding how they can contribute to safer roads. The initiative aimed at empowering the younger generation with knowledge and encouraging responsible behavior for their well-being.

The day concluded with an interactive Q&A session, leaving the participants informed and motivated to adopt safe practices.

Outreach Program at Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh by Model Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic (AFHC), SNM

The Model AFHC SNM, Leh, successfully organized an outreach program at Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School. AFHC counsellor Diskit Angmo provided an informative briefing to the students about the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) program, highlighting the services offered at the Model AFHC clinic at SNM and other adolescent health services available to them.

Additionally, a productive individual counselling session was conducted by Miss Maariyah Samreen, clinic psychologist, along with AFHC counsellors Diskit Angmo and Tanveer Ahmad. This session specifically focused on students identified by the school’s Health and Wellness Ambassadors, providing them with further counselling and support through the AFHC’s comprehensive initiatives.

This initiative is a part of AFHC’s continued efforts to ensure the health and well-being of adolescents through targeted outreach and support programs.

**Combined Outreach Program of RKSK, NTCP, and RBSK at TCV School Choglamsar, Leh**

A successful outreach program was conducted at TCV School Choglamsar, Leh, in which around 196 students actively participated. The session aimed at addressing important health topics for the students' overall well-being.

- **Dr. Iqbal** initiated the session by thoroughly explaining the RBSK program and raising awareness about anemia among students.
- Following this, **Ms. Phuntsog Diskit**, Clinical Psychologist under NTCP, provided an insightful briefing on the harmful effects of smoking and substance abuse, along with the services available at the NTCP clinic.
- **Ms. Maariyah**, Clinical Psychologist with RBSK, addressed critical mental health issues, discussing how students can manage stress, particularly during exams, and providing strategies to handle mental health challenges in adolescence.
- Lastly, AFHC Counsellors, **Mr. Tanveer Ahmad,Ms. Diskit Angmo and Edzes**, conducted a detailed session on the changes adolescents experience. They also introduced students to the services provided at the AFHC clinic and presented videos on adolescence, which were well-received by the audience.

A lively Q&A session followed, where students engaged actively, seeking answers to their questions. The program concluded with individual counseling sessions, where about 30 students had one-on-one interactions with the counselors and clinical psychologists.

**Outreach Program by Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic SNM Leh in Collaboration with DEIC at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh**

The Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic (AFHC) at SNM Leh, in collaboration with DEIC, organized an outreach program at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh, where around 108 students participated. The event focused on crucial adolescent issues, particularly su***de prevention, which was highlighted through a presentation by Ms. Maariyah, a Clinical Psychologist, and Edzes, a Counselor at AFHC Clinic, BMO Leh.

Following this, students were informed about the physical and emotional changes that occur during adolescence. Tanveer and Diskit, AFHC counselors from SNM Hospital Leh, encouraged the students to reach out to the nearest Adolescent Friendly Health Clinic for support whenever needed.

**Topics Covered:**

**1. Adolescent Health:**
This session focused on the overall well-being of adolescents, highlighting the importance of physical, mental, and emotional health during this critical developmental stage. Topics included nutrition, exercise, hygiene, mental health awareness, and the importance of seeking help when needed.

**2. Substance Abuse:**
The dangers of substance abuse were discussed, with an emphasis on the risks associated with the use of drugs, alcohol, and to***co. The session aimed to educate students about the consequences of substance abuse on their health, academics, and relationships, and strategies for resisting peer pressure.

**3. Su***de Prevention:**
This sensitive topic was addressed to raise awareness about the signs of emotional distress and suicidal thoughts among adolescents. The resource persons discussed ways to seek help, the importance of open communication, and supporting peers who might be struggling. They emphasized the availability of resources and support systems for those in need.

Resource persons, including Maariyah Clinic psychologist from RBSK, Edzes (AFHC Counsellor BMO Leh), Diskit Angmo (AFHC Counsellor SNM), and Tanveer Ahmad (AFHC Counsellor SNM), delivered insightful sessions on these pressing issues. The program concluded with individual counseling sessions conducted by the counselors and clinical psychologists, providing personalized support to the students.

**World Su***de Prevention Day at SNM Hospital Leh**

On World Su***de Prevention Day, SNM Hospital Leh hosted an impactful event with around 74 students from AMT School participating.
