Felicitating Tarunika Ghosh โ€” A True Symbol of Courage and Determination

As a member of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Old City, it was truly an honour for me to felicitate Ms. Tarunika Ghosh, a young para-athlete from Kolkata whose life story is nothing short of miraculous.

Tarunika bravely fought and conquered blood cancer at the tender age of two, survived a 32-day coma, and overcame multiple physical challenges to rise as a world-record holder at the Virtus World Athletics Championship 2024 in Australia. From surviving life-threatening odds to creating history in the 1500 m walk event, her journey is a shining example of resilience, dedication, and the indomitable human spirit.

Being in her presence was deeply moving โ€” a reminder that true strength doesnโ€™t come from our circumstances, but from the courage to rise above them.

On behalf of the Rotary Club of Calcutta Old City, I feel immense pride in celebrating Tarunika Ghosh โ€” a true inspiration to society and a beacon of hope for every fighter who dares to dream.

Today was one of the most remarkable days of my 23-year career. Our senior team from LIC visited us, and it truly felt like a milestone moment.

Over the years, Iโ€™ve received immense appreciation, respect, and love from this organization โ€” but this was the first time we had such a grand meeting. It was with one of the largest and highest-ranked divisions, KMD01, which currently holds the No. 1 position.

The Divisional Manager, along with other distinguished officials, graced the occasion โ€” and it was truly a blessing for me.

Ritabhori Chakraborty is not just an amazing actress โ€” sheโ€™s a wonderful human being, and I had the privilege to witness that closely.
For the past 16โ€“17 years, she has been deeply connected with a school for children with hearing and speech challenges โ€” a bond she has nurtured since her childhood. Recently, at her kind invitation, I visited the school and was truly moved by her love, warmth, and dedication. The way the children adore her, and how she remembers each of their names, shows her pure and compassionate heart.
