4. Clinical work on Type 1 Diabetes:
Invented PANYED to reduce or nullify insulin requirement of diabetic patients forever. He wrote bold scientific letters to American Government and American Diabetes Association expressing that diabetes is not incurable per se. He was a pioneer scientist to hold that the capacity of pancreas to secrete insulin can be fully or partly restored. Recently, captain of American government research team on diabetes agreed to him in principle. Till this clinical research work, all over the globe, specialists treating diabetes and insulin manufacturers were under incorrect assumption that insulin secreting cells are dead forever, but they did not have a micron of proof as Dr Prakash Katariya pointed out. Thus Dr. Prakash contributed to this vital part of the world of diabetes. This fact will soon lead to various cures and breakthroughs in diabetes.
5. Work on Coronary Artery Disease :
His Ph.D. thesis exhibited that atherosclerosis is reversible. He is of the opinion that majority of heart surgeries (CABG, Angioplasty kind of) are not really needed and PANYED is a viable, inexpensive, and safer option for complicated, expensive and risky heart surgeries.
6. He is of the opinion that the majority of (non accidental) spine surgeries are not needed
7. His research on OPAD (occlusive peripheral arterial disease) exhibited that majority of the amputations are not necessary and many limbs can be saved from amputation prescribed for OPAD, diabetic foot, non healing wounds etc
8. He is of the opinion that the cartilage can be regenerated and hence t majority of joint replacement surgeries (T.K.R. , T.H.R.) Moreover blood supply to femur (in A.V.N.) can be restored
9. Recognized by Indian Medical Association for being the first Indian doctor to acquire postgraduate qualification in "Laser Medicine".
10. He founded Indian Institute of Laser Medicine in co operation with Russian Government for technological exchange between countries on the subject of Laser Medicine
11. Pioneer in India for Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) for cancer.
