You need to Strength the muscles that assist you while doing a Pushup
Primary muscles
1. Pectoralis Major (chest)
2. Triceps
3. Anterior Deltoid (shoulder)
Secondary muscles
1. Scapula (shoulder blades)
2. Core
These exercises will help strength them all. Hope it helps.
