Padhar Hospital is a charitable Christian Mission Hospital registered under the Evangelical Lutheran

We are a Mission hospital based in a village in Central India and have been around for more than 50 years. Over the years the hospital has tried to improve the lives of the people in our surrounding villages-our health services have evolved to encompass the need of the times- malnutrition, combating diarrheal diseases in the community, disability, cancer, orthopaedics and plastic surgery, Eye car

e, General medicine, Paediatrics and Maternity services. We have drilled wells, planted trees, introduced fisheries and crops like soyabean. We have done non-formal education, started schools, orphanages and a school for the visually impaired and physically challenged. We are a strange hospital that extends beyond the gates of its existence, blurring the divide between levels of care from primary to tertiary in places-- hoping to give a person a chance to live a life of health and happiness. We work primarily among the Gond tribals who inhabit this region and serve people who come to us from the states of MP, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh and even further afield looking for care that we ever try to mould and shape to suit the needs of these people.

Padhar Hospital family is delighted for all the prayers of the community for Hospital throughout. We believe that this institution keeps going up with the immense support and dedication of the staff for the benefits of Hospital.

Mr R, came to us with a large swelling in the neck, completely compressing his airway
He was unable to even sleep comfortably. After investigating,he was found to have Stage 4 thyroid cancer. After discussing with our multidisciplinary team he was taken up for surgery -
Total Thyroidedctomy + Laryngectomy + Radical neck dissection + modified radical neck dissection + permanent tracheostomy.
Complete removal of his thyroid,larynx and disease in the front of his neck.
We had a well qualified and experienced team of surgeons, anaesthetists, blood bank staff, pathologist and radiologist who played pivotal roles in his treatment.
The surgeons had to carry out an extensive dissection because of the spread of the disease, due to which there was a lot of blood loss. Our blood bank promptly gave us platelets, fresh frozen plasma and other such blood products. Our anaesthesia team ensured a smooth procedure without any hiccups. He was kept in our ICU on ventilator support and slowly weaned off.
He is now doing well, has returned home and is planned for radiation and chemotherapy.

Dr Joseph Kukkamudi is a maxillofacial surgeon who is trained in Christian Dental College, Ludhiana (BDS, MDS -OMFS) , he has completed the fellowship in Head and Neck surgery, gaining experience in resections, neck dissections, microvascular surgeries, plastic surgical procedures - skin grafting, harvesting, surgical airways and post operative care. Also was a participant of the Smile train camp operating on several lip, palate and nose corrections.
We hope this time has been a blessing for him, that he will strengthen the department of Head and Neck oncology in CDC Ludhiana and also enhance the alliance of Padhar Hospital and CDC Ludhiana.

Padhar Hospital has been a pioneer in the field of Head and Neck surgery for the past 50 years in central India. Operating over 150 cases a year. We are also a part of the Smile Train program- doing cleft and palate surgeries throughout the year. We started a fellowship program for post MS candidates - MS ENT, MS Gen Surgery, OMFS. Focusing on management the management of oral oncology, from initial evaluation in OPD to surgical training - including Tracheostomy, Resections, Neck dissection, reconstructions, skin grafting and microvascular anastomsosis; and post op care. The first graduate of this program is Dr Paul Matthai (BDS, MDS- OMFS). This is a 1 year program and open for the taking. Participants will be under the tutelage of Dr Rajiv Choudhrie(MS Gen Surgery, MCh Plastic surgery - Director, Padhar Hospital) and consultant Dr Mridul Manoj (BDS, MDS-OMFS).
