I am sick and tired of hearing things like- ‘Thode bohot jhagde toh chalte hai, sabke ghar mei hote hai’ or ‘ched chaad toh hote rehti hai, kitna common hai’ or ‘ragging toh part hai school aur college ka, bachon ko strong banna chahiye’.
NAHI chalta hai!
Unfortunately, domestic violence, sexual harassment and bullying is common, but they are NOT NORMAL.
There is NOTHING acceptable about any of this.
Stop excusing abuse.
Start holding perpetrators accountable.

It’s not “chalta hai” — it’s a CRIME.

( sexual harassment , domestic violence , bullying , abuse )

5 months of supporting corporate employees through 1-on-1 counselling, facilitating training, and conducting sensitization workshops.
This new role has been a gateway to invaluable learnings and meaningful impact (plus the bonus of working in beautifully designed offices!). Excited to share my insights, experience, and the striking contrasts between the social and corporate sectors.

If our culture and religious leaders can teach young minds to tolerate emotional abuse from family and elders. It has the power to also teach them to stand up for themselves from a young age.

PS- I wrote this post 1.5 year ago, still do not see much change in the preachings.

This is easier said than done. Especially if grandparents are living at home and we cannot control everyone’s behavior in the house.

But, the fact remains that during their growing years, a child mimics the behavior of others in the house, and if you want them to learn something, leading by example is the quickest way.

P.S- This post is less for the parents and more for people around them constantly questioning their parenting.
In Indian household, raising a child the way parent/s actually wants to raise is a rare occurance.

Celebrating 9 years as a mental health practitioner in India✨

Indeed an uphill battle, which came with its own challenges.
Not going to lie, there are days where I want to retire already. Lekin fir yaad aata hai social sector mei financial stability paane ke liye 20 saal extra kaam karna padta hai.

Wrote something on the recent events that unfolded in our country—a megalomaniac celebration overshadowed by a tragic incident that shook our nation. It’s exhausting to witness continuous struggles for safety and justice, especially when the very individuals who are meant to protect us seem detached and unqualified. The safety of our doctors and women remains in jeopardy, and it feels like we’re constantly fighting against overwhelming odds. 🌍💔 Yet, amidst the helplessness, I find hope in our unity and resilience as we stand together for change.

I am sure we all have come across so many reels and memes making fun of the fact that feminism has gone ‘too far’ and now women ‘have to’ work instead of being at home, resting and taking care of their children. Some of us even get to hear that in conversations where it is a topic to make fun of.

Those who benefit from misogyny and abuse their power and privilege are often the ones exploiting these trends and jokes to their advantage.

To clarify, feminism is about having the freedom to make our own choices and do what we want without shame or pressure. So if anyone—regardless of gender—wants to be a homemaker or stay-at-home parent, feminism supports that choice wholeheartedly!

✨ Exciting Learning Experience! ✨
I attended a two-day workshop, “Working with Children and Young People using Narrative Ideas and Practices,” conducted in Hindi. This workshop encouraged us to reflect on the narratives and influences of broader systems that have shaped our perspectives over time. It prompted us to question fundamental stereotypes that we often overlook.
The interactive sessions allowed us to explore various techniques and strategies that can be applied in our work with children and adolescents. I left feeling inspired and equipped with new tools to foster meaningful connections and empower young voices.

Out of the many therapy approaches that exist, grief work or grief counseling is slowly becoming one of my favorites.

It’s safe to say that most of us have had an imperfect childhood, which turns into grievances in adulthood.

Grief counseling involves working towards healing those grievances. It teaches us that gratitude and grief can co-exist✨ It lets you feel hurt and feel grateful at the same time🤍

I recently saw an old acquaintance’s post on FB defending to go to work while her child is still not weaned off from breastfeeding. How she had to explain that she wakes up early in the morning to cook an entire meal for the family, pump breast milk, go to work, work like a ‘man’, come back and cook a meal again for the entire family. This cycle repeats every. Single. Day!
Sigh.

Also, who came with the term ‘working mother’?! Maine aaj tak kisiko ‘working father’ bolte hue nahi suna!
