How to Keep a Healthy Bladder

1. Use the bathroom often and when needed. Try to urinate at least once every 3 to 4 hours. Holding urine in your bladder for too long can weaken your bladder muscles and make a bladder infection more likely.
2. Be in a relaxed position while urinating. Relaxing the muscles around the bladder will make it easier to empty the bladder. For women, hovering over the toilet seat may make it hard to relax, so it is best to sit on the toilet seat.Take enough time to fully empty the bladder when urinating.
3. Do pelvic floor muscle exercises. Pelvic floor exercises, also known as Kegel exercises, help hold urine in the bladder. Daily exercises can strengthen these muscles, which can help keep urine from leaking when you sneeze, cough, lift, laugh, or have a sudden urge to urinate.
4. Drink enough fluids, especially water. How much water you need can vary based on your size, activity level, and where you live.
5. Limit alcohol and caffeine. Caffeinated drinks (like coffee, tea, and most sodas) can bother the bladder and increase symptoms such as frequent or urgent need to urinate. Cutting down may help.
6. Quit smoking. Bladder problems are more common among people who smoke. If you smoke, take steps to quit.
7. Know your medications. Some medications may make it more likely for your bladder to leak urine, it dulls the nerves and you may not feel the urge to go to the bathroom.
8. Wear cotton underwear and loose-fitting clothes. Tight-fitting pants and nylon underwear can trap moisture and help bacteria grow.

World Diabetes Day is held on November 14th each year to commemorate the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting who co-discovered insulin in 1922. Today, this day is observed in 170 countries and territories.

Health impact
Over time, diabetes can damage the heart, blood vessels, eyes, kidneys, and nerves.
* Adults with diabetes have a two- to three-fold increased risk of heart attacks and strokes (2).
* Combined with reduced blood flow, neuropathy (nerve damage) in the feet increases the chance of foot is an important cause of blindness and occurs as a result of long-term accumulated damage to the small blood vessels in the retina. Close to 1 million people are blind due to diabetes (3).
* Diabetes is among the leading causes of kidney failure (4).
* People with diabetes are more likely to have poor outcomes for several infectious diseases, including COVID-19.

Prevention
Lifestyle measures have been shown to be effective in preventing or delaying the onset of type 2 diabetes. To help prevent type 2 diabetes and its complications, people should:
* achieve and maintain a healthy body weight;
* be physically active – doing at least 30 minutes of regular, moderate-intensity activity on most days. More activity is required for weight control;
* eat a healthy diet, avoiding sugar and saturated fats; and
* avoid to***co use – smoking increases the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

To coincide with World Immunization Day 2022, we share the following tips to boost your natural immunity!

1. Get plenty of sleep
Sleep certainly doesn't feel like an active process, but there are plenty of important things happening in your body when you're not awake.
Proper sleep needs to fight off infection and illness, it's important to know how much sleep you should be getting every night, as well as the steps to take if your sleep is suffering.

2. Exercise regularly
Physical activity isn't just for building muscles and helping yourself de-stress it's also an important part of being healthy and supporting a healthy immune system.
Regular exercise helps immune cells efficient at detecting and reacting to infection. Focus on staying active and getting regular exercise

3. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
Water plays many important roles in your body, including supporting your immune system.Even if you're not exercising or sweating, you're constantly losing water through your breath, as well as through your urine and bowel movements, be sure that you're replacing the water you lose.

4. Healthy Food
“When your body has sufficient amounts of the micronutrients found in these foods, it helps to maintain your immune system homeostasis,” Make sure you eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats.Since experts believe that your body absorbs vitamins more efficiently from dietary sources, rather than supplements, the best way to support your immune system is to eat a well-balanced diet.

5. Minimize stress
Stress is different for everyone, and how we relieve it is, too. It is important to know how to identify stress. whether it's deep breathing, mediation, prayer or exercise, you should also get familiar with the activities that help you reduce stress.

🔸Pears-They are good fall fruits that generally begin to ripen in September and sometimes October depending on the region. Pears are a good source of fiber and about 100 calories per serving.
🔸Bananas-Typically available in grocery stores year-round, bananas are great as snacks, toppings for cereals or in smoothies.
🔸Green beans-At about 31 calories per 1-cup serving, green beans will add some color to your plate. You can eat them raw, add them to salads or roast them with a little olive oil.
🔸Winter squash-Do not let the name fool you. Winter squash are available in both fall and winter. Squash varieties include acorn, butternut and spaghetti.
🔸Potatoes-Need a bladder-friendly comfort food when the weather cools down? Try white potatoes or sweet potatoes (yams).
🔸Lean proteins-Examples include low-fat beef, chicken, turkey and fish. Especially when baked, steamed or broiled, they are unlikely to bother your bladder.
🔸Whole grains-Quinoa, rice and oats are just a few examples of whole grains. They come in many varieties and are generally not expensive.
🔸Breads-Overall, breads are bladder-friendly and a nice addition to meals.
🔸Nuts-Almonds, cashews and peanuts are healthy snacks and rich in protein.
🔸Eggs-Also rich in protein, eggs are on several lists as one of the "least bothersome" foods for bladder conditions.
