{this picture is from two years ago when i was terribly sick}
i’ve been stuck in bed 90% of the time since saturday. i started feeling sick on friday but got really bad saturday afternoon. i have r e a l l y bad chest congestion, like you can hear the crackling when i breathe, sinus congestion, terrible body ache, way worse joint pain, fatigue, no appetite, swollen glands in my neck, fever, weakness and since yesterday i’ve been coughing blood mucus. i haven’t slept well in the last 3 days. i can’t breathe and my chest hurts if i don’t take my inhaler every two hours — this exactly was my condition 2 years ago when i did not care about my health & wellness. 2 years later, with the weather changing, i’m sick again! (yes, i hardly fell sick in these 2 years) why? because i took my own health for granted. read this on hacklife - why do we need to be standing at a funeral only to once again be reminded that our health is all we have? without that we have nothing. once we are in a hospital bed, or sick at home do we appreciate being mobile and feeling physically capable of doing the things we love doing. appreciating good health should be a daily occurrence rather than an occurrence once we experience suffering, pain, illness or loss of life.
this sickness has forced me to put myself first on a whole new level.
saying no, sticking to my guns, rescheduling, saying more no’s and making my health my top priority even when i don’t really feel like it have all become my mantras.
i know this new mantra is a gift even if it’s come in the form of a nasty suffering that has stripped me off so much. but learning the art of unapologetically putting myself first is a lesson of lifetime.
i feel luckiest to have felt closer to my mama and ishu in the last 3 days of sickness and healing.
to anyone who has taken their health for granted, slow down. i promise that slowing down is worth it. take a good look at yourself and ask yourself: do you put you first or everyone/everything else?
you don’t have to be sick to make those small changes ✌🏼

took a day off to spend time with family (the only work i got done today is book tickets for mama’s trip to bangalore). won’t lie when i say i had a bit too much cold pressed orange and lime juice and a bit too many sweets. balance right? it had been a while. i’m so grateful for what balance feels like. balance is different for everyone, but for me it means simple pleasures of life without guilt or regret. restricting yourself always isn’t healthy, don’t go overboard but listen to your body and
tonight it feels so good do a turmeric face mask, have a hot bath and sip on my favourite herbal tea to really soothe my cold 🤧
hope you guys had a great day! also, posting some big personal news tomorrow on the feed. stay tuned, maybe? 🌸 xx .

this simple, mouthwatering vegan tomato pesto layered with cherry tomatoes, fresh oregano & butter mushrooms seasoned with garlic salt and parmesan cheese on toasted sourdough works for breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner — but not without the delicious and tangy .in sundried tomato pesto 🤤 not gonna lie, i feel a little guilty cheating on classic green pesto but sometimes you got to shake things up 😋

bursting with fresh flavours of herbs, tomatoes and olive oil, this pesto pairs perfectly with your choice of chips, veggies, crackers or slather this on burger buns, in wraps, on sandwiches, on pizza crusts in place of sauce, toss with pasta for an almost instant dinner! 💁🏻‍♀️ .

The Secret Kitchen
We often complain about modern dining restaurants missing out on the wholesome aspect while serving classic dishes. The Secret Kitchen steps in. They are serving honest Asian and Indian vegetarian food, taken up a notch that brings forward surprisingly tasteful food to the table. It’s a new angle from which they are looking at classics, without making them blasphemous.

The interiors, decor and style of food plating here is a kind of fusion and were a treat to observe. The mood inside is edgy with music that sets the tone straight.

My companions and I started our meal with soup while we waited for a plethora of appetisers recommended by the head chef to arrive at our table. The Chinese Hot Pot Soup was excellently prepared with warm and spicy vegetable broth and homemade spices (yes, that the secret of The Secret Kitchen, they make their own spices).

The appetisers were a roller coaster of innovation. We were presented Stir Fried Pasta served on a hanging skewer stand with a very thin basil pesto and cheese sauce slathered on the plate. We next had Italian Affair which has pizza with basic topping and garlic bread hanging on the skewer stand served with a decent quantity of penne pasta made in a pink sauce which was richly flavoured and hit the right notes. They seriously upped their appetiser game with Paniyaram served on a Ferris wheel stand with tangy tomato chutney was a winner; the crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside paniyarams will have you asking for seconds. The tomato chutney was delicious and balanced perfectly with the added spices adding flavour and zing to it.

However, we should have passed on The Dhokla Fondue which was a tad bit too dry served with khatta moong, also I honestly didn't like the idea of eating khaman dhokla with khatta moong.

For our mains, we had creamy and flavourful Lucknowi Paneer Butter Masala; panner was as succulent as you’d like and Barbecue Veggies in Pistachio Gravy was a heavy treat to devour. I highly recommend you to relish both these mains with options of rotis to choose from. We devoured our mains with a couple of drinks. I called for Roasted Pineapple Mocktail served in a tall bamboo glass which was very refreshing, tart drink with a whole new level of fruity and smoky flavours.

We ended our afternoon with Chocolate Explosion - a show-stopping chocolate sphere, magically filled with vanilla sponge cake crumbs, bobs and boondi, beautifully broken and drizzled with warm chocolate sauce served with vanilla ice cream. this is one unforgettable desert with a huge wow factor.

For a better dining experience ask for Pritam and Somnath; both of them did a great job of serving us right from the start.

Thanks again Mr Roy for your warm hospitality.

for the longest time i felt i need to have the “perfect body”. i struggled to meet societies expectation of a perfect body. but no matter how much weight i lost, it was never enough. i destroyed my mental and physical health for what? negative body image? loss of period? severe asthma? depression? maybe i didn’t love myself enough. at first it was just comparing my body to other girls and weighing myself once in a while. over the years it only got worse; i started restricting, purging if i ate junk, obsessively counting calories, weighing myself up to 5 times a week and working out past the point of the exhaustion. with too many other things going on in my life, i became weak, depressed and very sick. i brought myself to the lowest points to obtain the “perfect body”. but now i see that i don’t need to have a perfect body. my body has been beautifully made. right now, i’m the heaviest i’ve ever been and that doesn’t mean anything. i’m happy to say, after a gap of a year of recovery (for those of you who don’t know, i had both my knees fractured in 2017) i workout and eat the food that nourish my body and my mind and i FEEL incredible. some days, keeping room for indulgence, i also eat a big ole bowl of chocolate ice cream and fries. i’ve learnt what balance means. i no more have asthma, pcos and not at war with my body. i won’t lie, i struggle from time to time, but that’s okay. i am finally learning to love myself the way i was made. here i am, thighs touching, belly rolls, messy hair and all but happy, loving myself more than ever before and focusing on what makes my s o u l feel good 💗🌸✨

Hotel Sayaji Vadodara

Situated just 10 mins away from the airport, Sayaji Hotel is a five-star hotel that plays host to the business traveller and holidaymaker alike. A perfect place to relax and unwind without having to leave the city, the hotel boasts two on-site dining options, a world-class spa and a swimming pool. For a staycation, it has everything I need. The hotel also has wide and spacious banquet halls (Emerald and Mahal), open lawns, for all sorts of events, weddings, seminars with delightful Sayaji hospitality.
While what room you decide to stay in depends mainly on how much you want to spend on your stay, Sayaji has got you covered for a range of pricing options with about 140 rooms.
The room had a living room or seating area and a bedroom. The seating area is perfect for lounging or quick meetings and also has a desk in case you want to get some work done. And the wall comes with soundproof windows to ensure nothing disturbs your downtime. Every floor lobby also has sophisticated seating or waiting area for you catch up with a friend over a cup of coffee.
If you're feeling stressed, sore or overtired, you can experience a calming, de-stressing and relaxing time at the hotel Spa. I highly suggest you take a spa session during your stay at the hotel.

Lunch at The Cravings.
Located on the ground level of Hotel Sayaji, it may just serve the best food in the city. Yes, I know that’s one hell of a claim but based on my lunch there yesterday - the cooking deserves the accolade. Before I get to talking about the food, I have to tell you about the best part - the staff were universally friendly and professional throughout the afternoon. For me, the difference between a good restaurant and a great one is its staff. The way our server came and cleaned the tables in between courses, the knowledge that stewards have about the menu.. that was so brilliant. The ambience is very warm, great lighting, good music and had an elegant, modern edgy decor. There is a good amount of space to move around as the Buffet is spread over a wide area with live counters, salads, main course spread and desserts.

feeling a bit under the wet weather here in baroda since a couple of days. my house is surrounded with trees and plants, haven't seen the sunlight all day. 😮
but that didn't stop me from having my fav smoothie. so for breakfast today, basically just threw in everything in a bowl again.
blend 2 frozen bananas, vanilla yogurt, soaked chia seeds, 1 scoop plant based vanilla protein powder, cashew butter and 1c coconut milk 🌴
sending love and good vibes to everyone in bombay, stay safe and stay home 💕 .
