A teacher's true joy lies in the success of their students, for in their achievements, we find the fulfillment of our purpose.

We are happy to share that our M.Pharm student, Deepa Debnath, has been selected for a Ph.D. program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, USA. She has also secured a Teaching Assistantship along with a full tuition fee waiver. During her master's, Deepa has worked on studying neurobiology and development of animal model for her frostbite injury-induced chronic pain.

Congratulations, Deepa! Wishing you all the best as you embark on this exciting new chapter of your academic journey.

Revolutionizing neuropathic pain treatment: Our team developed a nano-formulation of opioids, targeting peripheral sensory neurones to alleviate pain without causing central side effects including drug addiction. This breakthrough could transform pain management for conditions like cancer-induced neuropathy.

On the path to providing pain relief with minimal risk, offering hope to millions worldwide. The patent is finally published after almost four years of wait.

Selective targeting of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) expressed on Peripheral Sensory Neurons (PSNs) blocks pain signals at its source by suppressing spontaneous and ectopic activity in nociceptive neurons and results in the attenuation of ongoing and evoked pain.
Targeting GPCRs at PSNs offers potential strategy for the development of novel analgesics devoid of central side effects including drug addiction.

A huge congratulations on successfully defending the pre-Ph.D. thesis submission seminar! Your clear presentation, in-depth knowledge and the confidence level was truly impressive.

During his Ph.D. Akhilesh has worked on development of novel clinically mimickable model of combined chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain (CINP), a major toxicity associated with anti-cancer drugs. This model challenges and presents an better alternative to currently used mono-therapy based models of CINP in pre-clinical research. Not only this, Akhilesh has also dissected the significant involvement of TRPA1 nociceptors in CINP and developed a novel siRNA based nano-formulation for the targeted treatment of chemotherapy-induced neuropathy.

During his doctoral pursuits, Akhilesh actively engaged in diverse collaborative lab projects, culminating in an impressive tally of more than twenty research and review publications. The entire neuroscience and pain research lab is proud of your accomplishments dear Akhilesh. Keep up the good work and shine brighter and brighter.

This accomplishment speaks volumes about your hard work and dedication. As you move forward in your Ph.D. journey, may each step be as rewarding as this one. Cheers to your success and the exciting academic adventures that lie ahead! Well done!

A big thanks to funding agency, ICMR and IIT (B.H.U), Varanasi for providing the necessary support and infrastructure required for carrying out this research work.
