Asthma is a major non communicable disease characterized by recurrent attacks of breathlessness and wheezing, which vary in severity and frequency from person to person. Symptoms may occur several times in a day or week in affected individuals, and for some people become worse during physical activity or at night. During an asthma attack, the lining of the bronchial tubes swell, causing the airways to narrow and reducing the flow of air into and out of the lungs. Recurrent asthma symptoms frequently cause sleeplessness, daytime fatigue, reduced activity levels and school and work absenteeism.

Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affect approximately 300 and 210 million people, respectively, with most of the deaths associated with both disorders occurring in low- and middle-income countries. In 2005 asthma was responsible for 255,000 deaths, whereas COPD was the cause of approximately 3 million deaths worldwide. With asthma being the most common chronic disease amongst children and COPD predicted to become the 3rd leading cause of death by 2030, clearly these two conditions represent very large unmet medical needs that require urgent attention.

Similarly in COPD, there are no treatments that can halt the progression of the disease. Again, there is little that can be done to effectively limit the severity or reduce the frequency of the disease. Additionally, acute exacerbations of both asthma and COPD (where disease symptoms become acutely more severe) are major causes of hospitalizations and death in patients.

The causes

The fundamental causes of asthma are not completely understood. The strongest risk factors for developing asthma are a combination of genetic predisposition with environmental exposure to inhaled substances and particles that may provoke allergic reactions or irritate the airways, such as:
Indoor & outdoor allergens; to***co smoke; chemical irritants; air pollution

Other triggers can include cold air, extreme emotional arousal such as anger or fear, and physical exercise. Even certain medications can trigger asthma: aspirin and other non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs, and beta-blockers (which are used to treat high blood pressure, heart conditions and migraine).
Urbanization has been associated with an increase in asthma. But the exact nature of this relationship is unclear.

Contemporary Medications

Now progress in western medical research has reached a bottleneck, as single compound drugs are costly to create, synthesis and manufacture. To see real and sustained progress in research it is necessary to utilize traditional remedies to develop advanced medicines. During the past decade there has been a paradigm shift from utilizing single target drugs to multi-target drugs. The concept of multi-targeted therapy represents the conventional herbal medicine treatments that often employ multi-component plant tissues extract as natural product mixtures. However, very few phyto-medicinal products have clear or systematic documentation comparable to that of chemically synthesized drugs as single chemical compound.

About 80% of asthmatics turn to alternative or complementary therapies typically in conjunction with their regular allopathic medication. The role of complementary and alternative medicine in adult asthma treatment is limited because these approaches have been insufficiently researched and their effectiveness is largely unproven.

Our Botanical Product

Having been fighting Asthma & COPD since last two generations in the family itself, it was our determination to find out a natural solution to this health condition. Needless to provide details, all of us are well versed with the adverse side effects of the standard asthma therapy (e.g. glucocorticoid) prevalent in allopathic treatment or heavy usage of antibiotics and bronchodilators for COPD. People suffering these health conditions for more than 3 years understand this very well but are helpless.
In this backdrop, we worked hard for decades to find a natural solution sans side-effects. This product is a simple mixture of a few botanical extracts (having been clinically proven for efficacy by various universities) processed in cow dung. The final product is crystalline powder, odourless and light brown in colour. The adult dosage is a 500 mg capsule-size twice/thrice a day. It takes about 7-15 days to replace the allopathic medication. Once settled down, this natural product manages the condition well without any side effects.
