Insulin is a natural hormone produced by the pancreas, and every person needs it to survive. In Type 1 Diabetes, the body stops making insulin completely, which is why insulin injections become a lifelong necessity.

Insulin is not harmful, addictive, or dangerous. It is a life-sustaining hormone that keeps blood sugar levels safe and stable.

People with T1D should never stop insulin therapy, as the body cannot function without it. Staying consistent with insulin is essential for good health, energy, and a normal, active life.

In this video, Dr. Kartheek Nalluri, Consultant Pediatric & Adolescent Endocrinologist and Pediatric Diabetologist in Vijayawada at Endo Kids, explains how to check if a child’s sugar levels are properly controlled.

To monitor sugar levels, a glucometer is commonly used. The ideal range is 70–150 mg/dL, and we check how often the readings go below or above this range to understand the child’s overall stability.

A small Sensor placed on the arm gives more detailed tracking. It records sugar every 15 minutes, works round the clock, and stores data for 15 days, which helps in making accurate treatment adjustments.

An insulin pump can also reduce the need for multiple daily injections. Many assume it works like a pancreas, but it doesn’t. The pump delivers insulin automatically, but it cannot adjust doses on its own, so correct readings must be entered.

This video guides parents in understanding these monitoring tools and managing their child’s diabetes more confidently.

In this video, Dr. Kartheek Nalluri, Consultant Pediatric & Adolescent Endocrinologist and Pediatric Diabetologist in Vijayawada at Endo Kids, breaks down some of the most common myths about diabetes in children.

Many people believe that Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are the same, but that is not true. One of the biggest misconceptions is that if someone in the family has Type 2 diabetes and uses tablets, the same medicines can also be used for Type 1 diabetes. This is completely incorrect.

Here are the key points explained in the video:
• Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body stops producing insulin.
• Type 2 diabetes occurs when insulin is produced, but the body does not use it effectively.
• Diabetes tablets work only for Type 2 diabetes because they help increase insulin production or improve insulin activity.
• For Type 1 diabetes, insulin injections are the only treatment option.

Dr. Kartheek clearly explains why each type requires different management and why understanding the difference is crucial for children’s health.

In this video, Dr. Kartheek Nalluri, Consultant Pediatric & Adolescent Endocrinologist and Pediatric Diabetologist in Vijayawada at Endo Kids, explains how blood sugar can be managed in children with Type 1 diabetes.

The video covers essential points on diabetes management, the role of insulin, and how the body converts food into energy with the help of this hormone. Since Type 1 diabetes develops due to an insulin-production error in the pancreas, insulin remains the only effective treatment.

Blood sugar needs to be checked before every meal, and insulin doses must be adjusted based on:
• Current blood sugar
• Carbohydrates present in the upcoming meal

Correct dosing supports better control and reduces the risk of diabetes-related complications.
For effective management, insulin should be taken three times a day before meals, along with one long-acting insulin dose at night before sleep.
