#LittleStepsToBigMiracles
Play is the royal road to childhood happiness and adult brilliance.”
~ Joseph Chilton Pearce
If you observe a child at play, you can see a wonderful world unwind in front of you. Block by block when a child builds a castle and then pretends to be its King or Queen or when an elder sibling bosses around the younger one pretending to a teacher, they are not just enjoying, they are learning to develop imagination, create scenarios observed in adults, regulate their emotions, develop resilience and perseverance.
A child will learn almost all the life skills while playing and the added benefit is that it’s fun!! What better way to get ready for life!
Play is the most important part of child’s development. While at play there is physical, social, cognitive and emotional development. The brain learns in many ways while at play. It learns to explore new environments. Understand what’s safe and what’s hazardous, building a child’s confidence to handle situations, develop cognitive skills, math skills, solve problems, resolve conflicts without unnecessary fear or aggression.
A child life goes through different stages of play. It starts developing from meaningless solitary or self play in infancy to associative or cooperative play in childhood.
The simple game of peek a boo in infancy teaches them object permanence that is the thing is present in the world even when out of sight.
They learn social interaction, to share not only toys but also their space with others like adults and kids. The idea that two or more people can be focused on one activity (joint attention) develops. Pretend play as already mentioned helps them enact adult life situations and develop imagination to create their own private world to explore.
In Autism, these skills are a difficult to develop spontaneously because of lack of social interactive skills development and dominance of repetitive behaviours. Due to which, exploring the environment, responding to others, sharing objects

Dear allAs we celebrate World Autism Awareness Day this year on 2nd April, we at Vivid Skies present you a webinar in line with this year’s United Nations Theme of Inclusive Quality Education For All. Over the past decade, major progress has been made towards increasing access to education generally, as well as for persons with autism specifically. However, in 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the globe, a majority of countries announced the temporary closure of schools, impacting more than 90 per cent of students worldwide. The disruption in learning caused by the pandemic has reversed years of progress and has exacerbated inequalities in education. Many students with autism have been especially hard hit and studies show that they have been disproportionately affected by disruptions to routines, as well as services and supports that they rely on. So, we need to pay more emphasis on reversing this effect and creating a more amiable environment for children with Autism in terms of education and other social aspects. In our webinar the experts from our team in their respective fields will cover - Autism: The Conundrum - Sensory Processing Issues in ASD- Behavioural Therapy in ASD- Inclusive education and school environment for children with ASD. Hope to see you all there and Happy Learning!!
