Mud plastering is being applied to the final stages of this goodliving house! 🏡

Mud mortar and mud plaster are used for the exposed finished look that you see here.

Plastering is done after cement is mixed with locally available soil. Mud plastering uses very little cement, is environmentally friendly, and keeps the house very cool. 🧱

Introducing Soundari, a widow who works as a cooking assistant in a restaurant. She earns just enough to meet her daily expenses.

She has been living in a thatched house for a very long time. She still saves up some money to build a proper house but finds herself spending that money to fix her thatched house repeatedly every cyclonic monsoon.

She lives in constant fear wondering about what's coming her way the next season and which disaster should she cater to first.

Introducing Parvathy and Danasekaran, an elderly couple struggling to build a safe house for themselves.

They shared their daily struggles with us explaining why they haven't been able to build a house which is safe from disasters like cyclones, extreme rain and floods, inspite of their repeated efforts.

It worries them further that their children's overall health and education will get affected because they aren't living in good conditions.

We are pleased to announce our colloboration with Climate-U project which is led by the University of London to explore the possibilities of using Participatory Action Research with local communities and university students to bring climate justice through a community-driven approach. Looking forward to working with these experts and expanding the horizons of our work in making climate resilient and green housing a mainstream for the marginalised.
