With -guided regional proven to significantly enhance block success rates and patient safety, hands-on skill acquisition has become indispensable in contemporary anaesthetic practice.
The Department of Anaesthesiology, GIMSR, successfully conducted a Hands-On Workshop on Advanced Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anaesthesia, witnessing enthusiastic participation and strong academic engagement. The programme featured expert faculty lectures, live operating theatre demonstrations, and meticulously structured hands-on rotations across six focused workstations. These included upper and lower limb blocks, trunk and chest wall blocks, abdominal wall blocks, lumbar and sacral plexus blocks, and needling techniques using gel models. Small-group learning combined with real-time ultrasound guidance enabled meaningful faculty–participant interaction and effective practical skill enhancement.
The workshop was conducted under the esteemed patronage of Dr Gitanjali Batmanabane (Pro Vice-Chancellor), Dr Suryaprakash Rao (Dean), and Dr Karthik Bhogavalli (Head – Operations). The programme was led by Dr M. Prasada Rao, Organizing Chairperson, with Dr. PVS Lavanya served as Organizing Secretary and Dr Udaya Bhaskar as Organizing Joint Secretary. Dr Bh. Vamsi Krishna ably fulfilled the responsibilities of the Scientific Committee. The event exemplified high academic rigour, seamless ex*****on, and a strong spirit of collaborative learning.
Through such initiatives, GIMSR continues to reaffirm its commitment to excellence in anaesthesia education, advanced skill development, and practice-ready medical training.
