Nursing collage was established in 2007, and enrolled the first class of students in the same year, The B.Sc. The Nursing curriculum is planned in such a manner as to the progress from Nursing care management of healthy individuals and communities to the Nursing care of sick individuals and their families within the context of their environment. Medical sciences as well as liberal arts courses are
integrated within the curriculum to provide the necessary background to support the basic theoretical knowledge needed by competent nurses to provide care for healthy and sick individuals and families in various primary, secondary and tertiary heath care setting. The Collage of Nursing has earned a reputation for uncompromised excellent in: Research, Teaching Clinical practice and public service. Innovative assume leadership roles and respond to the healthcare needs of diverse population. Nursing collage is committed to play an active role in fulfilling the community needs thus aims at improving health services in Duhok province. Its main goal is to train competent nurses with advanced medical and clinical knowledge and skills. The collage also provides review courses and training for nurses who have already graduated. The Nursing profession in the region considerable importance with the advancements of medical sciences in general. The Collage provides up-to-date education in both theoretical and practical fields of nursing. Students complete a bachelor’s degree in four years. This curriculum adopts a problem-solving approach to nursing practice. Such an approach will enable the graduates to cope with more complex and diverse nursing situation and should be give them the potential to show more initiative in the independent intervention of nursing problems. It will also better prepare the nurse to focus on developing the organization and practice as well as the political, security, socio-economic, religious and cultural context of the changing Iraqi society. Graduates are able to provide nursing care to individuals of all ages and families from diverse cultural backgrounds in any setting offering health care services.
