Root canal retreatment of tooth #14. Overextended gutta-percha was removed from the palatal canal and the missed second mesiobuccal canal was located. Copious sonic-activated irrigation with NaOCl and EDTA was performed. Obturation was completed using warm vertical compaction and AH Plus sealer.

I am happy to share with you our recently published paper in BioMed Research International. This study compares apical debris extrusion and instrumentation time when preparing root canals using the Gentlefile rotary system, ProTaper Universal, and manual step-back technique.

Successful root canal retreatment of the mandiblar first molar with apical int. root resorption in distal canal due to short preparation. Follow-ups reveal resolution of lateral and apical endodontic lesions - pre-op, post-op, 2-year follow-up, and 3-year follow-up radiographs.

Effective treatment is truly evident in the follow-up. One-year recalls reveal full healing of the perforated resorption lesion, sealed with L-root MTA. Regrettably, tooth #31, which initially had a promising outlook, became hopeless due to a crown fracture.
