A week ago the partners met again in Italy for the last step of the project.

The meetings began on Wednesday 8th of May with the through the streets of Macerata, in partnership with the University of Macerata, IgersMarche and the Municipality of Macerata.

The european partners and all the public participants met in Piazza Strambi for a walk in the historical centre in style!
The instaWalk followed the city’s most iconic spots, guided by exceptional ciceroni who immersed participants not only in the history of the place, but also in the challenges faced and the related solutions implemented after the 2016-2017 earthquakes, the very ones that subsequently inspired the rebirth projects.

Participants also witnessed unusual installations around the centre, such as those of the AND project, Digital Native Arts, immersive digital experiences for the revitalisation of the Mercato delle Erbe and the very iconic and brightly coloured Vicolo Consalvi, an urban immersive journey and a Public Art project, created by the students of the Light design course at the Academy of Fine Arts.

On September 15th, 2023 at the University of Macerata, in the Department of Economics and Law, the Multiplier event had been the concluding panel of the week of experiential teaching training, within the RETOURN - REcovery TOurism after Natural Disasters project.

The event open to public, hosted by UNIMC and planned by project partner PepeLab, had as speakers both partners and lead institutions, to show the status of the project, but most importantly by expert guests from the tourism, economic, social and environmental fields.

Each guest enriched the panel by reporting experiences and best practices in the field of tourism recovery after natural and environmental disasters, with a particular focus on the host region, le Marche.

Thanks to each contribution and to the great attendance, the event was the best way to end the week of training.

We would like to introduce you “European Talks”, the format of the Retourn project that will give you a closer look at the goals, steps, lead institutions and all partners of this project on rebuilding tourism after a natural disaster.

We start in Macerata, home of the university that led the project and with Professor Elena Cedrola, Dean of the Department of Economics and Law.

The professor will answer the question: What is the history of the University of Macerata and why did UniMc and all the partners take on the Retourn project?

Last September, the city of Macerata hosted all the partners of the RETOURN - REcovery TOURISM after Natural Disasters project for 5 days of workshops and activities on team work, analysis and project design.

The partners experienced, through the mode of serious play and training by facilitators Mattia Festa and Roberto Grifalconi, how group dynamics are the fundamental starting point for the achievement of an aim and, in this case, of a project intended to deal with the consequences of a natural disaster at the tourism level.

The RETOURN project partners thus became trainers themselves, for a multidisciplinary group of experts in the tourism, multimedia and social areas.

Let's take a look back together this week.
