The words “salt” and “sodium” are often used interchangeably, but they do not mean the same thing. Salt (also known by its chemical name, sodium chloride) is a crystal-like compound that is abundant in nature. Sodium is a mineral and one of the chemical elements found in salt. Sodium occurs naturally in nearly all foods, including fruits and vegetables though in very small amounts. Eating a variety of foods from all food groups will provide enough sodium for health and wellness. Unfortunately, for many people, more than 70% of the sodium we consume comes from packaged and restaurant foods. By limiting the amount of sodium in our diets we reduce our risk of high blood pressure and other illnesses.

Drink lots of water rather than soft drinks and juice and don't be so quick to run back out to your favourite fast food restaurants. 🥛

If it's one thing we have learnt about this virus, it's how unpredictable it can be. COVID 19 cares nothing about your age, class, race or beliefs. And while those with underlying conditions are more vulnerable, anybody can become seriously ill or pass from this disease.

Vaccines have changed the world as we know it and protected us from diseases that once ravished and crippled us. I got vaccinated to protect my patients but also to safe guard those I hold dearest to my heart. We can take nothing for granted...we all must do our part. It will take all of us to get on board if vaccination is to be effective. Let's not waste this gift. Do your research with credible sources, have a discussion with your health care provider and get on board! I got mine, will you get yours? Take one!❤💪🙌
