Love Your Scars

Love Your Scars Our goal is to improve the lives of others and help others mend their broken hearts. http://www.loveyourscars.org/ Some people may handle it better than others.

Love Your Scars was started by a teenager in New Jersey who went through a tough time during the beginning of her teen years. With the loss of her father by age 13, she began searching for ways to cope with it. With a lack of websites to communicate with other kids experiencing troubling times, the idea for Love Your Scars came to her attention. The main focus of Love Your Scars is to alert people of all ages, no matter what the case may be, that they aren't alone. Everyone goes through troubles and heartaches in their lives. Either way, this website is here for people to share their stories, how they got through it, or if they need help getting through it.

"Depression, manic depression, anxiety, or any other mental illness is not something you can just power through. People with mental illness can smile, show up for work, exercise, and look seemingly perfect to the outside world. People with mental illness need friends and family nearby for support. Family members of the mentally ill need friends and family nearby for support. We need to start talking about it. Our health and social policies regarding mental illness have to change. We need another term for depression or manic depression or anxiety or even mental illness. There is hope." If you or anyone you know is battling depression or contemplating su***de, please call the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255.

I am a Su***de Survivor: Here's what I wish everyone knew about those suffering from mental illness

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Take full care of your body, don't just focus on your physical attributes.

Your scars tell a story: a story of where you've been, a story of your survival and of your strength. Don't let them dictate your future.

Recovery is about EFFORT, not perfection. If you try your hardest & remember why you started, you'll succeed. Keep fight...

Recovery is about EFFORT, not perfection. If you try your hardest & remember why you started, you'll succeed. Keep fighting & don't give up.

You may have hurt yourself in the past, or even today, but this story doesn't have to end sad. You can turn the page & start a new chapter.

12/06/2014

Being strong isn't about never falling down or never failing but instead, learning to stand back up & try again after you've fallen.

11/06/2014

Whatever it is that you're fighting, whatever it is that you're going through, don't stop fighting - keep moving forward. You are strong enough to defeat it.

You are worthy of so much more than you may think or even know. Never doubt that. pic.twitter.com/xBaeDnqtCo

Self-harm is NOT beautiful. Recovery, staying clean, picking yourself up after you fall, loving yourself, & your life is what's beautiful.

06/06/2014

Don't be hard on yourself for your past mistakes. The ability to see the faults in your past shows how much you have grown since then.

06/06/2014

Never try to invalidate somebody else's problems or feelings just because you feel that you "have it worse." Show compassion towards others.
