Philharmonic Orchestra of Jamaica It aims to keep the classical, neo-classical and orchestral genres alive and flourishing in Jamaica. There are three founding directors.

The POJ was formed on May 7, 2013 by a group of committed persons with the aim of forming a long-lasting national orchestra of high quality aimed at keeping the classical, neo-classical and orchestral genres alive and flourishing in Jamaica. The Philharmonic Orchestra of Jamaica (POJ) was formed in May 2013 by a group of committed individuals and musicians who shared a common vision of establishin

g a long-lasting national orchestra of high quality. The leadership and musicians have a burning desire to build this charitable organization for the benefit of the country and the music fraternity. The majority of the members have played together in the past in other orchestral and chamber groups which have existed for short periods in the country’s history. The POJ hopes to build on this to form an institution that will last for generations to come. The organization was officially registered in February 2015 as a company limited by guarantee and achieved charitable status in November 2019.
