April is Autism Month.

Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to, other people. It also affects how they make sense of the world around them.

It is a spectrum condition, which means that, while all people with autism share certain difficulties, their condition will affect them in different ways. Some people with autism are able to live relatively independent lives but others may have accompanying learning disabilities and need a lifetime of specialist support. People with autism may also experience over- or under-sensitivity to sounds, touch, tastes, smells, light or colours.

Join TVJ's Shemala Mitchell during Prime Time news for a new feature on Autism, as the world observes World Autism Month during April 2015.

Ms. Mitchell during her feature tonight in The Health Report which airs at 7 30 pm Wednesday April 8 2015, will offer us some new information about Autism in Jamaica as at 2015.

She kicked off her feature last week with an update on Quinn Garren James Smith center in the photo, who having aced his Gsat is getting ready to take his Csec a Jamaican college qualifying test. Quinn's diagnosis is severely Autistic.

So make it a date.

The Health Report airs during TVJ's Prime Time News which starts at 7 pm.
