Caribbean Cement Company Limited has invested J$2.6 million in book vouchers to support 120 families across Kingston, St. Andrew, and Clarendon — just in time for the new school year!

The distribution took place aboard the MV Logos Hope, the world’s largest floating book fair, currently docked at our coal pier. Each voucher, valued at J$18,000, will help families prepare their children for a successful school year.

We’re proud to also support Project Star with over J$100,000 in additional vouchers, reaffirming our commitment to education and community development. ✨📖

Yesterday, we officially commissioned the Concrete Road and Recycled Bricks Pathway Project — a major step forward in sustainable infrastructure and improved accessibility throughout the Hope Botanical Gardens.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by our Managing Director, Jorge Martinez, alongside John Valentine, Managing Director of Jamaica Pre-Mix, and the Hon. Fayval Williams, Minister of Finance and the Public Service & MP for St. Andrew Eastern.

This initiative reflects our commitment to building greener, more inclusive spaces for all to enjoy.

Cemex Caribbean Cement Company Limited recently held its 76th Annual General Meeting, where we shared key strategic initiatives for 2025.

These include commencing cement exports to Caribbean markets beginning August/September, achieving a targeted production increase of 70,000 to 150,000 tons in the second half of the year, and advancing the development of floating concrete technology in partnership with Cemex Switzerland’s Research and Development division.

This innovation supports our ongoing mangrove protection project with the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA).

We remain committed to driving sustainable growth and environmental stewardship across the Caribbean region.

Today is , a day that highlights the urgent need to equip young people with the skills required for employment, entrepreneurship, and decent work. 🌍🎓

Through our Cemex Campus Work-Ready Programme, we’re proud to have empowered final-year students from universities across the Caribbean.

Over eight weeks, these future leaders gained hands-on experience in key areas such as:

🔹 Cement technology & sustainability
🔹 Health & safety, and quality control
🔹 Supply chain, human resources, social impact initiatives and more.

This initiative tackles a major challenge: bridging the gap between academic learning and workplace readiness.

And that’s exactly what World Youth Skills Day is all about – empowering young people through technical, vocational, and life skills training, so they can build successful careers and make a lasting impact in their communities.

Mangroves and Climate Change

Mangroves store up to four times more carbon than other forests. That makes them powerful allies in the fight against climate change. But across Jamaica, many mangrove areas are being cleared for construction or waste dumping. If we lose them, we lose one of our best tools for a healthier future. Let’s speak up and act now to save them.

Why Mangroves Matter

Did you know mangroves act as natural shields for Jamaica’s coastline? These tangled trees protect us from storm surges, reduce flooding, and help prevent beach erosion. They're also nurseries for fish, crabs, and birds. This makes them vital to both food security and biodiversity. Protecting mangroves means protecting our communities. Let’s not take them for granted.

On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Cemex Executive Committee to our plant, led by our Regional President, Mr. Alejandro Ramirez.

Following a series of productive meetings, the committee toured key areas of our operation, which included the kiln, mill 5, and the packing plant.

They also got a first-hand look at the remarkable progress of Jamaica’s largest cement industry expansion project.
