Jack Ina Bush or Chromolaena odorata, which is a form of Boneset and found growing all over the Grandy Nanny Farmhouse path here in Jamaica, is a medicinal herb that can be used for symptoms and treating flu viruses, respiratory infections and asthma, it can help issues with breathing due to its camphor content. There’s some good information about it being effective for inflammation and to treat skin conditions such as eczema. The tea has also been used to ease the effects of measles and chicken pox.
It is also said that this herb’s flowers can be used to control diabetes. Simply cut the leaves and boil water to drink as a tea. If you desire to cut this plant down and use later, cut and hang to dry, once dry, you can place in a jar and store for future use.

Tassel Flower, or One Blow

Asteraceae Family

Red Tassel Flower or One Blow is a medicinal herb and nutritious food commonly growing in Jamaica. It is a member f the Asteracea (Daisy) family and native to Asia and naturalized in Africa, Americas and the Caribbean.
One Blow is used in Jamaica for cold and flu symptoms, it is said to have therapeutic benefits in treating diarrhea, night blindness, sore throat, rashes, measles, motion sickness, eye and ear afflictions, fever, stomach tumors, asthma, liver disease, eye irritation, ear infection and chest pain in many cultures throughout the world.
The leaves are edible and can be eaten raw, boiled or sautéed as a green and eaten with vegetables.
