This season is a powerful reminder of why emotional intelligence matters.

Emotional intelligence isn’t about pretending everything is merry.

It’s about noticing what you feel, honoring it, and choosing how you respond with yourself and with others.

This Christmas, emotional intelligence might look like:

• pausing instead of reacting
• setting gentle boundaries without guilt

HOW WELLNESS PROGRAMS CAN FAIL (Balanced + Solution-Focused)

Let’s Talk About Why Workplace Wellness Programs Sometimes Miss the Mark and How to Fix It

💗 Most organizations genuinely want to support their staff.

💯 But sometimes wellness programs fall short, not because people don’t care, but because the approach doesn’t match the reality of healthcare work.

Here’s what often happens:

1. The focus is on activities, not root causes.

Yoga classes, wellness fairs, and healthy snacks are great, but they don’t address the real issues nurses face daily, like communication breakdowns, incivility, emotional overload, or unrealistic workloads.

2. Wellness becomes another “task.”

When people are exhausted, adding more “shoulds” can feel overwhelming instead of supportive.

3. Employees don’t feel psychologically safe.

Wellness doesn’t work if people don’t feel comfortable speaking up, expressing concerns, or asking for help.

4. The emotional experience of employees gets overlooked.

Feeling unseen, unappreciated, or disrespected impacts wellness far more than the number of steps someone walks.

‼️‼️. Most of us are not struggling with moving forward we’re struggling with letting go of:

Old identities and workplaces we outgrew

Old coping mechanisms that stop us from healing outside and in the workplace

Old workplaces that shaped our triggers

Old narratives that made us shrink

Old beliefs about what we deserve

Old definitions of loyalty, strength, and success

The weight isn’t in the new idea, the dream, the next chapter, the vision.

The weight is in the old habits, old promises, old wounds, and old versions of ourselves that fight to stay alive.

This quote reminds us:
Workplace wellness doesn’t start with adding more. It starts with releasing what no longer serves the organization or the people.

Nurse turnover is real

⚠️ Studies show job dissatisfaction and burnout are major reasons nurses consider quitting.

For example, one 2024 integrative review found that JOB DISSATISFACTION and BURNOUT are among the strongest predictors of intent to LEAVE the profession.

In one study, 42.5% of newly graduated RNs considered leaving nursing due to high workload, poor communication, or feeling unprepared.

📚 In school, I prioritized key assignments early instead of letting them pile up, which kept stress low and momentum high.

💡 My 20% this week: intentional planning, focused content creation, and smart time management.

🪴 My 80% results: more clarity, less stress, smoother days, and the satisfaction of knowing I moved the needle where it matters most.
