This prospective observational study evaluates a novel silicone-based perfluorodecalin (PFD) gel for managing radiation-induced dermatitis (RD), a common and often distressing side effect of radiotherapy. In a cohort of 27 patients with grade 2–3 skin toxicity, the gel demonstrated a significant reduction in RTOG scores over time (p < 0.001), with visible improvement as early as week 1 and near-complete healing by week 3.
Importantly, the treatment was well tolerated and effective across different patient characteristics, highlighting its potential as a safe, non-steroidal solution to enhance skin recovery, improve patient comfort, and support treatment adherence in cancer care.
