Founded in 2013, AUMAU YOGA was Fukuoka's first English-speaking yoga community. In 2015, AUMAU YOGA expanded to become Quito's first English-speaking yoga community and opened the doors to our first studio in Cumbaya, Quito, Ecuador. At AUMAU, focus is placed on all aspects of Yoga:
Pranayama or proper breathing: To help us keep our minds calm, focused and in-balance at all times. Meditation: To helps us attain an inward-looking approach to existence. Asanas: Postures guided by our breath to help us build strength, flexibility and balance. AUMAU YOGA was created by two highly-trained Registered Yoga Teachers. Grace (RYT 200 & 500) and Mau (RYT 200 & 500) have been married for 7 years and lived in Fukuoka for five years. Their shared vision is to offer Fukuokans the opportunity to avoid over-priced and ephemeral yoga 'classes' by giving students an authentic, and affordable education of traditional Yoga, taught in English. Mau and Grace are both certified by the reputable Yoga Alliance. They were formally trained in the capital of Yoga; Rishikesh, India at Shiva Yoga Peeth (Hatha RYS 200/500) and The Association of Yoga and Meditation (Multi-style RYS 500). In 2014, Hazuki Nakayama, a former student, was introduced to the Fukuoka yoga community and thereafter took over the weekly practices. She is a bilingual Fukuoka native who studied in Hawaii and then went on to achieve her 200 RYT in 2014 in Bali, Indonesia. In 2015, Jade Jagroo, also a former member of the community, joined the team after completing her 200 RYT in Bali. Mau and Grace currently spread their love of yoga in Quito, Ecuador. They started the first English-speaking yoga community in 2014 and combined with this went on to open the first AUMAU YOGA studio in Cumbaya, Quito, Ecuador in June of 2015.
