嚥下造影検査食の開発 ４
高度な嚥下造影検査（X線TV装置を用いた嚥下機能検査：VF）を行うためには、用いるX線不透過性検査食を実際の食品に限りなく近づける必要があります。
現在日本人の主食は、ライフスタイルの変化により約20%が「パン食」となっています。
パンは柔らかくて食べやすいように思えますが、窒息事故の頻度が高い食品の一つです。
当クリニックでは2024年より食感が実際の食パンに近い、「バリウム食パン」を独自開発することで、摂食嚥下の一連の流れにおける全てのステージにおいて精度の高いVF検査を行ってまいりました。
今回の最新バージョンでは、造影剤として使用する硫酸バリウムの粒子特性をさらに改良しました。その結果、外観・香り・味・食感が実際の食パンと区別がつかないレベルの「改良バリウム食パン」の開発に成功し、検査食として使用を開始しています。
もぐもぐクリニックでは今後も、検査食の物性制御と臨床的有用性の両立を図りながら、より信頼性の高い検査法の確立を目指してまいります。

In order to perform high-precision VF examination, it is necessary to make the radiopaque inspection foods used as close as possible to actual meals.
In Japan, approximately 20% of the staple diet now consists of bread, reflecting changes in lifestyle.
Although bread is generally perceived as soft and easy to consume, it is also recognized as one of the foods frequently associated with choking incidents.
Since 2024, our clinic has independently developed a “Barium White Bread” with textural properties closely resembling those of standard white bread. This innovation has enabled highly accurate VF assessments across all stages of the swallowing process.
In this latest iteration, we have further refined the particle characteristics of barium sulfate used as the contrast agent. As a result, we have successfully developed an “Enhanced Barium White Bread” that is virtually indistinguishable from real bread in terms of appearance, aroma, taste, and texture. This improved test meal has now been introduced into clinical use.
At Mog2 Clinic, we will continue to pursue both precise control of test meal properties and clinical applicability, with the aim of establishing more reliable and clinically meaningful assessment methods.
