Kumamoto City is inviting everyone to vote on a name for a newly discovered cherry blossom species found at Kumamoto Castle! This unique sakura is special because its petals change from white to deep pink, creating a stunning mix of red and white flowers at full bloom.

熊本、福岡、大分の九州３県でしか作られてこなかった郷土玩具の「きじ馬（きじ車）」。
Have you ever encountered the adorable "Kijiuma" or "Kijiguruma"?
These traditional wooden pheasant toys are unique to only three prefectures in Japan: Kumamoto, Fukuoka, and Oita.

展示されている色も形も様々でチャーミングな約４０点の中には、人吉、多良木（たらぎ）、大分県玖珠町などで作られるきじ車だけでなく、宮崎県の「うずら車」や、日奈久の「おきん人形」など愛らしい作品を手にとって楽しみことができます。
At this special exhibition, you can admire about 40 charming pieces, each with its own distinct color and shape. From the classic wheels of Hitoyoshi and Taragi to the "Uzura-guruma" (quail toys) from Miyazaki and the lovely "Okin Dolls" from Hinagu, these folk toys are sure to bring a smile to your face.

トルストイ翻訳家で知られる北御門二郎（湯前町出身）が娘さんの結婚式の引き出物に選んだきじ車が、花手筥とともに、会場であなたを迎えます。
One of the highlights is a special "Kijiguruma" once chosen by KITAMIKADO Jiro, the renowned translator of Tolstoy (and a native of Yunomae Town).

【熊本市　ごみ収集用 指定袋に関して】
Designated Garbage Collection Bags Used in Kumamoto City

これまで、収集袋は青い燃やすゴミ用と緑の埋め立てゴミ用の2種類に分かれていましたが、4月からは、共通の新しい指定袋を使うことが可能です。
Until now, there have been two types of designated garbage bags: blue bags for burnable waste and green bags for landfill waste.
However, starting in April, a new common designated bag can be used for both types of waste.

お城のイラストが入った4種類の大きさです。
The new bags feature an illustration of Kumamoto Castle and come in four different sizes.

もちろんこれまでの収集袋を使うことはできますし、袋は同じ種類でも、燃やすゴミと埋め立てゴミはきちんと分けて別の日に出すことに変わりはありません。
Of course, you may continue using the current garbage bags. Also, even though the new bags are the same type, burnable and landfill waste must still be separated and put out on different collection days.

【Blue Impulse Aerobatics Flight: Commemorating 10 Years Since the Kumamoto Earthquake】April 11, 2026

熊本地震から10年の節目を迎えるにあたり、犠牲となったた方々への追悼と復興を支えてくださった人達への感謝を込め、航空自衛隊の協力によりブルーインパルスの展示飛行が実施されます。
To mark the 10th anniversary of the Kumamoto Earthquake, a special flight performance by the JASDF "Blue Impulse" will take place. This event is held in memory of those who lost their lives and to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported the reconstruction efforts over the past decade.

ONE PIECE（原作者 尾田栄一郎＝熊本出身）の世界を通して、熊本地震から10年の復興を振り返る企画展。
Celebrate a decade of resilience and recovery! This special exhibition reflects on the 10-year journey of Kumamoto's reconstruction following the 2016 earthquake through the world of ONE PIECE, created by Kumamoto's own Eiichiro Oda.

コンセプトは” SHI-RU-SHI” （印）。「麦わらの一味」の腕に描かれた「仲間の印」であるX印を、自分の腕にも黒テープで表現し、ルフィら仲間と一緒に写真を撮ることもできます！
❌ The "SHI-RU-SHI" (Mark) Concept Experience the iconic "Mark of Fellowship" (the X sign) from the series! You can put a black tape "X" on your own arm and take photos with Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew, just like the legendary scene from the manga.

県内10ヶ所に設置されているキャラクター像の原型が並んでいるセクションは圧巻！
For the first time, the original prototypes of all 10 ONE PIECE character statues located throughout Kumamoto Prefecture are gathered in one place. It is a truly breathtaking sight!

またキャラクター像の制作過程の写真にある原作者尾田栄一郎さんのコメントには、復興を応援したいという熱い思いが感じられます。
Read personal comments from Oda-sensei documenting the creation process of the statues. His passion and dedication to supporting his hometown’s recovery shine through every word.
