【こうの史代展ー漫画家生活30周年】＠熊本市現代美術館(~3月8日（日））
【Fumiyo Kouno: 30 Years of Manga】Contemporary Art Museum, Kumamoto (through Sunday, March 8）

「この世界の片隅に」（文化庁メディア芸術祭マンガ部門優秀賞）、「夕凪の桜　桜の国」（手塚治虫文化賞新生賞、文化庁メディア芸術祭マンガ部門大賞）で最も知られる漫画家こうの史代(1968年 広島生まれ)の全貌に迫る大規模原画展。
This large-scale original artwork exhibition offers a comprehensive look at the career of manga artist Fumiyo Kono (born in Hiroshima in 1968), best known for In This Corner of the World (Excellence Award, Japan Media Arts Festival, Manga Division) and Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms (Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize: New Artist Award; Grand Prize, Japan Media Arts Festival, Manga Division).

アシスタントを使わず、一人で描いた作品に込められた想いが、10代の時の作品から最新作まで５００枚以上の漫画原画や、貴重な資料、執筆風景を記録した初公開の映像などから伝わります。
ぜひ　ゆっくり時間をかけて、多様なテーマの作品をお楽しみください！
Without relying on assistants, Kono has created all her works single-handedly. Through more than 500 original manga drawings—from her teenage years to her latest works—along with rare materials and previously unreleased footage documenting her creative process, visitors can feel the thoughts and emotions woven into each piece.
Please take your time and enjoy her wide-ranging works, which explore a rich variety of themes.

【熊本城　迎春行事】
【Kumamoto Castle New Year’s Celebrations】

元日（1月1日）の熊本城は入場無料!
9 am - 5 pm (最終入場 4 pm )
Admission to Kumamoto Castle is FREE on New Year’s Day (January 1)!
🕘 9:00 am – 5:00 pm (last admission at 4:00 pm)

1月1日は、熊本城への入口は北口（二の丸駐車場近く）。
（平日の入口となっている、御幸坂上の南口は、出口となります）
1月2日(木)・3日(金)は南口・北口のどちらからも入退園可能。
On January 1, entry to Kumamoto Castle will be via the North Gate (near the Ninomaru Parking Area). The South Gate at the top of Miyuki-zaka (normally used on weekdays) will be exit only.
On January 2 (Thu) and 3 (Fri), visitors may enter and exit through either the North or South Gate.

天守閣前広場と二の丸広場で、10 am - 3 pm 頃まで、獅子舞・太鼓演奏・武将隊によるパフォーマンスが行われます。
また、二の丸広場では、先着2026名に、かわらけ（素焼きの盃）無料配布されます。
From around 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, enjoy lion dances, taiko drum performances, and shows by the samurai warriorsat the Plaza in front of the Castle Tower and Ninomaru Park.
At Ninomaru Park, kawarake (unglazed earthenware cups) will be given away free to the first 2,026 visitors.

混雑が予想されますので、時間に余裕を持ってお出かけください。
Heavy crowds are expected, so please allow plenty of time for your visit.

【八雲とセツ　ー家族の物語】＠熊本博物館　（〜2026年2月15日）
Yakumo and Setsu: A Family Story 】at Kumamoto City Museum (through February 15, 2026)

小泉八雲（Lafcadio Hearn 1850-1904）は、1891年、第五高等中学校（現・熊本大学）の英語教師として赴任。3年間暮らし、妻セツとの間に長男・一雄が生まれました。
Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo, 1850-1904) arrived in Kumamoto in 1891 to teach English at the Fifth Higher Middle School (now Kumamoto University). He lived here for three years, and his eldest son, Kazuo, was born to him and his wife, Setsu, during this time.

日本に関するはじめての著作『知られぬ日本の面影』も熊本で書き上げ、「夏の日の夢」、「停車場にて」など熊本を舞台にした作品も多くあります。
Hearn's first work on Japan, Glimpses of Unfamiliar Japan, was completed right here in Kumamoto, and many of his stories, such as "A Summer Day's Dream" and "At the Station," are set in the city.

本展では八雲とセツ、一雄に関する資料をはじめ、友人西田千太郎に宛てた自筆書簡などを通して、八雲とその家族が紡いだ物語をご紹介されています。
This exhibition introduces the story woven by Hearn and his family through materials related to Yakumo, Setsu, and Kazuo, including Hearn's handwritten letters addressed to his friend, Sentaro Nishida.

【正月飾り 各地の注連縄を集めて 工藝きくち】＠工藝きくち

熊本で注連縄と言えば「工藝きくち」で！という方も多いのではないでしょうか？　
今年も 全国各地からの注連縄が揃いました！
宝珠や鶴亀、海老、俵！ 縁起の良いしめ飾りが並びます。
Shime-kazari are traditional Japanese New Year decorations made from rice straw.

This exhibit attracts a large number of people every December.
It's fun to learn about the symbols shown in the wide variety of designs!

熊本市内を通る路線バスと熊本電鉄電車、および市電では、
12月の１ヶ月、クレジットカードによるタッチ決済の運賃が２割引になります。
Are you ready to save some money? For the entire month of December, passengers can receive a 20% discount on fares when using credit card touch payments on buses going through Kumamoto City, the Kumamoto Dentetsu (Kumaden) trains, and the City Trams.

平日は午前７時半から８時半を除く時間で降車する場合で、
