✨ Why early bedtimes are magic — especially after the holidays ✨
January often comes with a tired little body:
late nights, skipped naps, excitement, travel, grandparents, cousins, overstimulation…
And suddenly bedtime feels harder than usual.
Here’s something gentle that actually works:
Early bedtimes are not a punishment: they’re a nervous-system reset.
When children are overtired, their body releases stress hormones that make sleep harder, not easier.
A bedtime just 15–30 minutes earlier can:
reduce bedtime battles
prevent night wakings
help naps stabilize
support emotional regulation
stop the “overtired cycle” before it snowballs
It’s a small change with a big impact, and it doesn’t require any strict routines.
If your child is acting cranky, “wired,” clingy, or struggling to fall asleep after the holidays…
try an early bedtime for 3–4 nights.
You may be surprised how quickly things start to settle again.
Your child isn’t “off schedule” they’re rebalancing after a busy season. 💛
