【Yokosuka/Yokohama area】

If you’ve ever been stationed in Hawai‘i, this one’s for you 🌺

There’s a Hawaiian Fair happening right now in Yokohama Takashimaya, bringing back some serious island nostalgia.

You probably remember those famous pies from Ted’s Bakery, the ones you’d always spot at local grocery stores.
For a lot of people, it’s one of those simple, unforgettable tastes of Hawai‘i.

Fair warning… these pies come with that classic island level sweetness you don’t really run into in Japan 😆 but that’s exactly what makes them so good.

You normally can’t get them in Japan, but they’re here for a limited time at this event. If you’ve been missing that flavor, this is your chance.

The fair runs through May 6, so don’t miss it 🌴✨

Found a (new?) donut shop called Jack in the Donuts near Yokohama Station, just head left after you get off the Keikyu line.

Didn’t have time to try it (long line…), but it’s definitely on my list!!

Somei Yoshino (Cherry Blossoms) Under the Full Moon

Last night’s full moon (April 2) 🌕 and cherry blossoms made for a perfect spring scene🌸
Sharing a few moments from a beautiful evening.

Fresh, fluffy, and filled with island flavors 🍩

I recently stopped by Hawaiian Sweets Company in Yokohama and tried their malasadas.
They are soft on the inside with just the right amount of sweetness.
A little taste of Hawaii🌴
(The waffles were also good!)

It can get busy in this area on weekends, but I was able to grab some without much of a wait.

If you ever get the chance to visit Yokosuka, this is one spot that’s definitely worth checking out.

Million Dollar Ice Cream is located just minutes from base and has become a local favorite for a reason.

Most of their ice cream and even some of the toppings are made in house, which is why everything tastes so fresh✨
There’s a richness you just don’t get from store bought ice cream.

From classics to creative combos like salted peanut butter chocolate or mango coconut, there’s always something to try.

If you haven’t been in a while, it might be time for another scoop!

💬 Personally, I thought it was pretty interesting that they sell a pin called the Honch Rat warfare 😄
I feel like it’d be a great gift for anyone who used to be stationed in Yokosuka.
