Most of us know anxiety is a fear response. It’s the fight, flight, freeze or fawn response in our brain that’s activating for seemingly no reason. What most people don’t know is, there actually is a reason.
I’m not talking about the obvious stuff like triggers, or broad terms like social, performance, or generalized anxiety. I mean the deeper reasons. Why are some people anxious and not others? Why the triggers in the first place?
Here’s the beautiful thing, your brain is functioning exactly how it’s supposed to. It’s doing its job to keep you safe. But! If there are no obvious threats, it can seem pretty frustrating, confusing, and anxiety-inducing if you don’t know why your brain is doing that.
