This thread discusses the modified Kimura-Takemoto classification system and the Sydney system for the histopathologic and endoscopic staging of chronic atrophic gastritis.:
The modified Kimura-Takemoto classification system is used to measure the severity of chronic atrophic gastritis through histopathologic and endoscopic staging.
This system involves opening the stomach along the greater curvature (A) and in traditional coronal view (B). Endoscopic atrophy grading is then categorized according to antral (C-1), antral-predominant (C-2), corpus-predominant (C-3), and pan-atrophy.
Additionally, the Sydney system is utilized to take gastric biopsies at points 1-5, located at the antrum greater and lesser curve, incisura, and corpus greater and lesser curve.
