Last week I was invited by the British Embassy in Tokyo to join them for a tour of the HMS Prince of Wales. It was an honour to speak with the sailors on board and see this amazing ship. We had a beautiful funeral followed by burial for a beloved Japanese man. His Filipino wife and children wanted him to be buried rather than cremated which is the norm here in Japan. There are only a few cemeteries in Japan that allow full burial of the body. When called upon we will do our best to follow the family’s wishes and provide a respectful ceremony. #土葬 #お葬式 #セレモニー

Yamanashi: Jul 1–Sep 10
Shizuoka: Jul 10–Sep 10
📝Check your route before booking–Yamanashi or Shizuoka side?
💳 Reserve a time to climb & pay ¥4,000 applicable to both routes (Yamanashi routes and Shizuoka routes are booked through different websites)
🚫Do not begin the climb between 2pm–3am unless you have a hut booking
🌧️ Bad weather? Reschedule. Your safety matters. Huts can be flexible and may allow you to change your booking.
🧥 Dress for altitude: warm layers, long sleeves, rain gear
📱 Pack smart: phone battery, food, mirror (to reflect search lights)
🚑 Know rescue steps: dial 110 for police & 119 for fire and ambulance. Memorise hut & location codes

Today is the 80th anniversary of Emperor Hirohito’s announcement of Japan’s surrender in 1945,marking the end of WWll. As a member of the Tokyo Interfaith Council, I participated in the Interfaith Prayers for Peace Ceremony at the United Nations University Plaza in Tokyo. It was noted that over 200 million people died because of war over the past century. We all must strive to find peaceful ways to end conflicts without bloodshed. #海外搬送 #外国人 #葬祭 #エンバーミング

This week we traveled all the way up to Aomori to take care of an Australian family whose father had died. The famous Nebuta Festival was being held in Aomori this week at the same time we were there. Beautiful memorial service last weekend at the Tokyo Union Church for an American man who lived most of his life in Japan. I sat down at his home with him a few years ago to prearrange his funeral arrangements. A lot of our conversation was mostly talking about our lives in Japan. He was such a kind and thoughtful man.
