One year ago today, everything changed!

At AGC Tenwek Cardiothoracic Centre, we performed our very first open-heart surgery — a moment that marked the beginning of a new chapter in advanced cardiac care for our region.

What started with one brave patient, one committed team, and one prayer has grown into a journey of restored heartbeats, renewed hope, and strengthened families.

Today, we pause with deep gratitude:

To the patient who trusted us first
To the hands that operated with precision and compassion
To every nurse, perfusionist, anesthetist, and support staff member
To partners and supporters who believed in the vision

Because of that first step, many more hearts now beat stronger.

Today wasn’t just the end of Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Awareness Week… it was a room full of living testimonies.

Hearts that once fought silently now beat loudly in gratitude. Hands that heal stood side by side with lives restored. And in the middle of it all, a brave patient chose to celebrate her birthday with us, a powerful reminder that every extra candle is a victory, every smile a miracle, every heartbeat a gift from God.

As Valentine’s Day approaches, we are reminded that the greatest love story is hope restored, strength renewed, and a community that walks every journey together.
