Yesterday,12th August 2023 at around 19:13
, I received a call from Vipingo HC incharge informing about a road traffic accident occurring at Vipingo Kichinjoni between a 14 seater Munawar shuttle named Baba Lao and a 48 seater Bus of Narok Masai Girls secondary school on head On collision due to some unattended herd of cattles crossing on the road .
No Mortalities were reported however 24 casualties were rushed to vipingo health centre where they received first aid and subsequent medical attention.
23 casualties had to be referred to Kilifi County Referral Hospital where they needed further care and investigation e.g. X-ray , Orthopedic review , scan ..etc.
The casualties varied from soft tissue injuries , severe cut and fructures. ( Detail report to follow)
Kilifi South Sub County MOH and the Health Management team wishes to sincerely extend our appreciations and gratitudes to all partners helped us in referral services ( county Government Kilifi, Rea Vipingo , Mombasa Cement and E-plus) . A special appreciation and gratitude to Vipingo Health Centre’s team who availed themselves at the accident site and at the facility ,those who were on duty and off duty, health care workers from various facilities who came to assist and those who were at site to coordinate referral and offering first aid at site for exhibiting endless efforts in offering medical care and attention to all kilifians and Kenyans at large.
Thank you all for managing this tragedy instantly and efficiently . It was not easy and simple for us to control the situation without you.
I am very happy to be part of this great team , my only prayer to the lord is to repay you abundantly as medical fraternity with blessings and power to continue serving our communities in any situation.
