Let's join hands to promote preventive healthcare at the expense of seeking treatment or regrets after life is lost (especially for cases that are preventable).

Our main focus here is on mental health wellbeing.

We all see, hear or are victims of su***de and murder. All these rise from simple mental health issues that can simply be worked on before they become serious.

And this is why we're here.

I'll be posting articles here related to mental health to help us grow and maintain good mental health, and to help our friends and relatives who may be undergoing the same.

[Self-Improvement Part I]

How to Offload your Brain

Do you feel worked up? Or, do you feel your stress is overwhelming?

As I said earlier, your brain is like a motor engine. You can imagine how the engine heats up until you see some water poured to cool it down. Sounds funny, right? Your brain is no exception.

Today I want to teach you how you can offload your brain (or how to cool your brain).

But, before we dive into the “How”, why is it important to offload your brain?

Benefits of offloading your brain

1. Alleviates tension and stress (remember it is stress that build up into depression and, the aftermath of depression is weird behavior – including su***de and murder).

2. It helps you restore your brain’s equilibrium – as you offload, you release the packed emotions, stress and the past painful events in your life. And, brain functioning is restored.

3. It motivates you. As you share your problem situation or things that stress you up with a good listener, you feel cared for and loved – and this alone motivates you.

4. It gives you strength to face the hurdles of life. You’ll realize that you develop problem solving attitude and, not always wanting to be helped.
You can add more to this list…

Let’s now dive into how to offload your brain

1. Write them down
This is practical. When your mind is full, just take a paper and a pen, write all that stresses you down. As you transfer them on paper, they get off your mind. You can do the same with your programme of activities. Don’t try to master everything. Instead, have some notebook to jot them down.

2. Take deep breaths
Sounds easy? Yes, but it’s very effective in offloading your mind. It has a calming effect, especially if you continue to return your focus to your breath when your mind strays.

3. Eliminate and let go the unnecessary
At times we frustrate our brains with things that are not important to us. Or, very petty things that should not occupy our minds. Let them go because they don’t add any value to you.

4. Accept what you can’t change (and make peace with it)
There are things that we can’t change whatsoever. They are above us. For instance, we can’t bring back life when death ha occurred.
So, what’s the best thing to do? Make peace with it.

5. Share, Share and Share
Sharing is caring, and a problem shared is half-solved. It’s called the talk therapy.
In this case you find the right person you can confide to (can be a counselor or a friend). And, you pour out your stress, anger or frustrations as you speak to them.

Back to you
Now that you know why you need to offload your brain and some simple ways achieve it, it’s your chance to put everything you’ve learnt into practice.
Take action massively and see yourself grow.

THE 10 SIMPLE AND EASY TO IGNORE SU***DE WARNING SIGNS (AND WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU SEE THESE SIGNS)

The rate at which people commit su***de is alarming!

Listen to the radios, watch TVs, turn to social media…. Wah! The news all over is about deaths – with deaths due to su***de or murder taking the lead.

But, did you know these deaths can be prevented if you and me take responsibility? I hate the investigations that are done when life is already lost. It doesn’t add value at all.

Or is there any that have given a positive outcome (bringing back lost life)?

Important: Nobody commits su***de without showing signs. The only problem is, we ignore the warning signs and talk about them later when life already lost.

Pathetic!!!

So, today I want to teach you how to detect when your friend, relative, or workmate is planning to commit su***de. And, never ignore any warning sign – even if it seems minor.

Take action!!!! Save life!!!

The 10 Simple and Easy to Ignore Su***de Warning Signs

These signs are signals that the mind is not at peace.
1. Altered sleeping patterns – lack of sleep or oversleeping
2. Social withdrawal and isolation – especially for people who are known to be outgoing and social
3. Su***de talks like:
i) I’m tired of living – I don’t see the reason for living
ii) I’m frustrated and I don’t know what to do
iii) I wish I was not born
iv) I don’t have any other option etc. You can add more to the list…
4. Abnormal consumption of alcohol or drug abuse
5. Physical pain and discomfort – appearing gloomy, reports a lot of headaches, joint pains, loss of appetite etc.
6. Accessing lethal means like purchasing a gun, poison or a rope
7. Having mood swings
8. Saying goodbye to people as if they won’t be seen again
9. If there is history of attempted su***de before – whether as an individual or by a family member
10. Giving away their properties

WHAT TO DO INCASE YOU SEE THESE SIGNS
1. Don’t leave them alone
2. Offer talk therapy – give a listening ear and encourage sharing emotions
3. If the situation is serious report to the police
4. If in possession of lethal objects, disarm them or if in a risky place, encourage to relocate to a safe place
5. Refer to a professional psychological counselor for therapy
