Bone Marrow Aspiration (BMA) is a procedure in which a sample of the fluid portion of the bone marrow (soft tissue inside the bone) is removed using a special needle.

It offers detailed information about the condition of the bone marrow and the blood cells and is usually ordered by doctors in cases where blood tests are abnormal and are not providing enough information to make a diagnosis about a suspected problem.

BMA helps to:
Ø Investigate a fever of unknown origin
Ø Diagnose bone marrow and blood diseases e.g., anemia, cancer, myelofibrosis, thrombocytosis, leukocytosis, polycythemia, etc.

Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that develops in the cervix. Almost all cervical cancer cases are linked to Human Papilloma Virus which is why HPV vaccination is highly recommended. Regular screening and prompt treatment of precancerous lesions might as well be the game changer in the fight to prevent and probably end cervical cancer cases.

When detected early and managed effectively, it’s the most treatable form of cancer. However, it may not present any symptoms in its early stages and as a result, women should get screened regularly.

Advanced cervical cancer may present the following symptoms:
Vaginal bleeding between periods, after in*******se and in post-menopausal women
Vaginal discharge with blood stains and strong odor
Pelvic pain

Risk factors include:
Having many sexual partners and early sexual début
A weakened immune system due to infections and certain medical treatment
Other Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
Smoking

Complete Blood Count (CBC) also known as Full Blood Count and Haemogram is a common blood test that counts, evaluate and studies different aspects of blood components. It measures the number and size of blood cells, number of new blood cells created by the body, the fraction of the blood composed of Red Blood Cell (hematocrit) to the total amount of Hemoglobin (HB) in the blood and HB concentration per red blood cell (MCHC).

It is often part of a routine check up and can help diagnose variety of diseases by detecting abnormalities in blood that maybe a sign of infections, anemia, blood cancers, bone marrow disorders, autoimmune disorders, etc.

You may need a CBC if you have the following symptoms:
